Skip Bayless gets the award for [expletive] of the night -- "ARodg played great tonite. But don't put too much stock in it - it was the Falcons, and they were down a starting corner."

The same Falcons that were 13-3. The same Falcons that weren't missing a starting corner, but a nickelback. Dude might want to stop watching sports altogether.

aaron rodgers is getting close to brady/manning/brees territory

i know this is blasphemy but i dont think theres a qb in the nfl i'd take over him, at this exact moment

i dont want to call brady a 'system qb' but ... he certainly is in a system that provides a ton of yac and basically needs a guy to be super accurate in the short game, and he is

but aaron rodgers is a completely mad man right now, he's even got decent to good escapability and running ability, absolutely impressive arm strength and accuracy, and incredible decision making

its totally unfair the packers go from one of the best qbs in the league to...one of the best qbs in the league

he's still fairly young (though he had to wait, what like 4 years on the bench with favre? so he's not THAT young) and you'll have him for quite some time. ugh

Weren't you the guy talking about how mediocre the Falcons really were yesterday?

This is going to sound cocky, but at this point it doesn't matter who the Packers play as long as they maintain the same or substantially similar level of play. Barring horrible weather, I don't think there's much of a chance of slowing Rodger's and Co. down.

We'll see. I seem to remember the Bears doing exactly that 2 weeks ago with everything on the line for GB and nothing for Chicago, a week after GB scored 40+ points against another team with everything on the line. I think that Chicago's D is not a great matchup for the Packers offense. The Packers led by Rodgers have scored more than 21 points in a game against the Bears only once, way back in 2008 when they scored 27. That was also the only time Rodgers has had a QB rating over 100 against the Bears. Don't get me wrong, he hasn't had one stinker against the Bears (almost all his game ratings have been in the 80s or low 90s) but compared to what he does against other teams, the Bears have held him and the Packers offense in check. Even last year when our defense was terrible.

If the Bears and Packers play next week, I think it will be a game where the winning team scores in the low 20s and the losing team scorers in the high teens. Lets get to that point first though.

I believe he was. And he's one of the more level-headed Packers fans on this board.

I was and I provided stats to prove that their record wasn't as good as it was. They were still the #1 seed in the NFC and they were still 13-3, though. I don't see why it's so hard for these so-called 'experts' to admit that they were wrong about Rodgers.

But Colin Cowherd's the worst when it comes to that. I know it's completely unfair to Matt Ryan, but I really hope that people start bashing him for not winning a playoff game the same way people were criticizing Rodgers for not winning a playoff game or having a bad record in close games.

colin cowherd is the worst at a lot of things.

i'm surprised at how, oh i dunno, likable he seems on that show he does on espn. he comes off as brash, stubbornly ignorant, and pretty damn stupid, but he doesn't seem like the same [expletive] that went off on hall of fame tirades that firejoemorgan made fun of him for

i dont go out of my way to watch that show as its mostly fluff, but its not horrible

yeah well that's because that show is the proper setting for him. it's lighthearted banter and requires very little sports knowledge or insight. he does have a good presence and delivery, so it's fine when he's talking about whether tom brady or justin bieber has better hair, or whether it would be more fun to go out for pizza with shaq or chad ochocinco. it's when he hosts a 3 or 4 hour sports talk show that he gets in trouble, because it's really hard to arrogantly present yourself as a know-it-all on every sports issue when you have done almost no research to back up whatever point it is you're trying to make.

I don't care who the Packers play next week because they have to show up either way to win. But part of me would think it would be hilarious just for Viking fans to have to watch the Packers and Bears play for the right to make it to the Superbowl, 1 year after being a FG away from going themselves.

[expletive] you. Football season is over.

Actually I'm riding this Pete Carroll train as long as it will take me. Then football season will be over.

You're spot on, but if GB can come out like it did last night there isn't a team left besides the Patriots that I think is capable of beating them. I certainly do not expect GB to roll through a potential Bears matchup the way they did Atlanta. Hester scares the crap out of me, and it seems the Bears are very good at avoiding the big plays against GB. Thus, it will be important for the offense to move the ball in smaller chunks, and go on prolonged drives in much the same way they did in the first half last night. Cutler at this point is an unproven playoff commodity and I'm interested to see how he plays today.

He's already there, along with Rivers. NFC North fans just have to hope that these concussions become a chronic issue. Otherwise, we're hosed for the next 6-7 years. At which point another eventual Pro Bowl QB will fall to them who will then start every game for the following 15 years without injury.

I think we've also seen that the media was a little too quick to jump on the Matty Ice and Flacco parade.

You know I forgot to mention something the other day.

Not only would it be crazy as all hell that the Packers & Seahawks play for the NFC title (if that were to happen).

But the game would be played in Seattle.

There's just something so wrong about that.

Please Bears, win. For the networks, for Bears fans, for NFL fans everywhere......and for the very foundations of the known universe. Please don't lose to this team.

Rodgers is already there imo, but like I said last night, that was perhaps his national coming out party.

I'd probably go

Manning

Brady

Brees

Rodgers

Rivers (Rodgers and Rivers are almost inseparable in these spots, but I give Rodgers the edge for his scrambling and rushing abilities)

I'm having to pull for the Seahawks for a couple reasons

- So my Saints can save some face

- If a team that doesn't even have a winning record hosts an NFC Champ game, maybe there could be some changes put in place about all that. The fact that they got in the playoffs is one thing because if you win your division, then ok, you're in. But for them to host a playoff game was ludicrous.

However, as an NFC homer I'd really want a Packers-Bears matchup.

GB/SEA wouldn't be appointment TV like GB/CHI would be, but many people like to root for the underdog (I know I do, anyway).

There's probably a lot of split feelings out there about this game.

Maybe, but Cardinals-Eagles, a very similar type of matchup got really bad ratings 2 years ago.

tbh, I don't think that's all that unfair given the makeup of this board

No offense but I think Rodgers and Rivers might be ahead of Brees now. Admittedly, Brees could easily bounce back next season.
