Cory Provus always did a great job. I wonder if he'd ever come back if they didn't renew Moreland?

For the record I don't hate Moreland. It's tough to follow up Ron Santo.

Usually they like to have a former player/coach in the color spot.

they should hire glanville and put color in the color spot

Any news on the booth for next year? I thought Moreland's contract was up, but haven't heard a thing about it.

They're just going to loop this:

TOPICAL!

Moreland is out of the Cubs' radio broadcast team.

Probably couldn't afford him

Ronnie Woo Woo to the rescue.

Too soon. It's only been 3 years since Santo passed...

I still think Mark Grace would be a good choice for radio analyst and he has certainly done enough to lower his value over the past year that he would be happy to take a radio gig.

Whether the Cubs are willing to take that PR risk, and whether it is in Grace's best interest to put himself back in Wrigleyville, are two pretty big question marks though.

grace is a better fit for the cardinals at this point, let's get someone who won't embarrass us.

Heard today that Judd Sirott is on the way out too, so this could get interesting. Two new guys with Pat could be a nice energizer to the booth. It has gotten a bit dull the last couple years (granted, the team has been bad, but still).

Pat really phoned it in last year too. He wasn't sharp at all. I still love listening to Cub games over watching them, but last year was terrible. Most night they spent the 7th through the 9th doing [expletive] trivial pursuit.

I think part of that was Moreland had such a terrible rapport with Pat that he couldn't trust him to do anything that wasn't spoon fed to him or framed like a trivia question. I don't need someone who's going to break down run expectancy tables, especially on radio, but Moreland's inability to banter with Pat and then be factually wrong a LOT made him a brutal color guy.

yeah, i listened to a fair number of games during the half of the season i could manage to pay attention to, and i pretty much thought moreland was terrible to the point that i couldn't even evaluate pat. i liked pat a lot when ron was around, not sure now.
