USC getting hammered, UM in coaching flux, Stanford lost its coach. MSU's coach had a heart attack and Urban Meyer had to walk away due to health problems. In 2010, ND settles all family business.

so what was their gripe against that video assistant?

I wouldnt mind Miles. I think he'd be able to recruit well in the traditional markets being the well known "Michigan man" he is. I know many have gripes about his coaching decisions and stuff, but I think for Michigan right now its more important to have a guy who can stabalize the program and reassert their position as an elite program in the recruiting world. If that doesn't happen, Michigan as the next ND becomes more likely.

I think most Michigan fans would take Lloyd Carr era results at this point. I know I would. Which is funny because tons of people wanted Carr gone because he wasn't getting the results they expected.

no they won't - they say they will now, but they'll demand Miles be fired if he gets Carr results for 3-4 years. people wanted Carr gone b/c he couldn't get it done, so they took a shot on a guy that would completely change the system. I recall most UM fans I know being pretty pumped about landing RichRod, but saying openly that it would take some time to implement his system. It doesn't go well, so they fire him and now want Carr results? Well, of course 8-9 win seasons are better than 3-7 win seasons, but it's not like UM fans are going to be happy in 2 years if the next coach is winning 8-9 games but losing to OSU and not making a BCS bowl.

A couple of quick notes from Joe Schad:

-LSU might be willing to lower or waive the buyout for Les Miles

-Chris Petersen to Stanford is now highly unlikely per sources

Petersen can hold out for a much better gig than that.

I think him to Stanford makes sense for both sides. Petersen's had plenty of chances to leave Boise but it doesn't seem like he wants to go to a big name school like a Florida or Michigan (just throwing out a couple). That's not to say he will go, but I think Stanford would be the type of school he would be willing to jump to if he does leave Boise.

There was some random talks this past weekend about Petersen maybe taking over at Texas once Brown retires in a couple of years. They have had some connections this past year and with Harsin coming over it seems a little plausible.

According to Power Mizzou, Michigan asked to interview Gary Pinkel, and he turned down the invitation.

That's the job that I was thinking of too.

Petersen announced he's staying at Boise State.

It would've been the Mountain West's luck for Petersen to take off. I'm glad he's staying.

Jordy Hultberg is saying that Les Miles will stay at LSU.

Presumably his agent had to hold him back kicking and screaming while Brandon and the other Michigan officials got back on their plane without him.

Free Press is confirming that report.

Most reports are that nothing definitive has been decided with Miles. He's expected to speak in Dallas today at the American Coaches Conference.

LSU officials will meet with him before he makes a decision.

What he's going to do really depends on who you are listening to.

There are some reports that Miles really, really wants the Michigan job.

There are some reports that Miles only listened to the Michigan offer because he felt obligated to do so and never intended on leaving LSU.

Some reports are that he just wants more money and security from LSU.

And there's a whole lot of stories in between.

I really don't think anyone knows what's really going to come out of it.

LSU AD just said "I am pleased to announce that Les Miles will remain the head coach at LSU."

It's January 11th and Michigan has yet to interview its next head coach. Signing day is 3 weeks from tomorrow.
