I think part of it is that Bosh has been relegated to just another guy status and Lebron hasn't really had any spectacular games yet (e.g. the cartoonish numbers he would put up from time to time in Cleveland). They're really kind of a defensive oriented team that doesn't play the most thrilling brand of basketball.

lol ESPN now pimping the Lakers/72 wins discussion.

Wonder if they will have a "Laker Index" special section in the coming weeks.

While I certainly think the Lakers could do it if they really wanted to and got a little lucky, yeah, it is way too early.

If they start 29-3 or 27-2 like the Celtics did in 07-08 and 08-09, then we can start discussing it. LA started last year 23-4 before finishing with 57 wins and 21-3 in 08-09 (65 wins).

Speaking of ESPN special team pages, all the hype and discussion about the Heat really died down after the first couple of games didn't it? Wonder how many hits the Heat Index is getting. When I went there last week I didn't see anything about their quest for 72 wins and their LBJ Triple Double progress like they promised when they launched it.

That will take time away from their 10 Day Duke Special.

Also noticed they now have the Lakers and Heat lined up against the 95-96 Bulls with all three schedules listed. The Bulls finished that year winning 18 of 21 and all three losses were by one point. So they were one shot away in each game from going 75-7.

Yup. I remember them losing the 2nd to last game of the season against Indiana on NBC by one point. It annoyed me so much because A) I wanted the Bulls to lose less than 10 games. 73-9 sounds much cooler than 72-10, and B) Indiana was the only team to beat us twice in the season, and them the Sonics, the Nuggets and the Suns were the only 4 teams the Bulls didn't have a winning record against in the regular season that year.

How spoiled was I back then to actually be mad about that?

Also while I'm talking about this time period, after that Indiana loss, the Bulls last game of the year was preempted by a Sox game and was shown on tape delay several hours later. That would never ever happen in this day and age. There would be an outcry if a late September game between the Pirates and Nationals was not broadcast for an inning.

Also, as far as the Lakers go....I haven't watched any of their games or seen more than a couple highlights, so I am confused as to how there seems to be this growing hype of their dominance. I know they are 7-0 but it's not like they've destroyed every team they've played. 2 point win over Houston, 8 point won over Phoenix, 12 point win over Sacramento, 5 point win over Toronto. I guess I don't see how this is different from other years when the Lakers start off well.

It's not. They're still just a very good team with plenty of depth. They were going through the motions in that opening game against Houston and I thought for sure they were going to sleepwalk until February.

More impressive to me was the next year the bulls won 69 and, if I recall correctly, gave away a couple games late in the year to get ready for the playoffs. Could have won 70 two years in a row.

Yup...they were 68-10 and lost 3 of their last 4 to "settle" for tying the 2nd best record of all time. I'm sure some of it was a relaxed attitude before the playoffs, but the 3 teams they lost to were the Pistons (54 wins), Heat (61 wins) and Knicks (57 wins).

Oh and Paul Millsap has 42 points and 3 4th quarter 3s.

He has 2 3 pointers over 7960 minutes previous to tonight.

Holy Hell I just saw that. What in the world?
