Was there a huge debate about the overturn of Shiancoe's TD catch? Looked like the ball hit the ground to me which is an incomplete pass, right?

No. It doesn't matter if the ball hits the ground as long as the receiver controls the ball which he did. The ball never moved.

And now Dilfer is freaking out and acting like Childress called Favre an [expletive] in the press conference.

ESPN will beat this thing into the ground all week.

He definitely threw him under the bus when talking about the pick 6.

Kind of. What he said wasn't that big of a deal I don't think.

Ah ok. Didn't know the exact rule. In that case, not sure how they overturned it.

I have no problem with that. He said the play was designed to go to Percy and he had no idea why he went to the left side because Percy was in "big air".

I just re-wound it and watched it. It was 2nd and 6, Percy was wide open right at the first down marker but Brett never even glanced his way. He locked in on Moss who was covered, then panicked when the pressure came and threw a pick 6. Shank was wide on that right side also.

If Percy was the primary, Chilly should call him out there.

It's his deal.

Back to the officiating that was just horrendous all game. They didn't call a hold all game, right? At most it was one. They blew the TD to Quarless but Childress still blew it by not challenging it when he should have. The back judge was standing 5 feet from Percy in the end zone and he wasn't even close to getting his right foot down. It was just terrible all around.

The ball definitely shifted while in his grip. He never lost control of it, but the ball definitely wiggled a bit before he completely possessed it. Now whether it moved enough to warrant overturning it is pretty debatable, but it definitely moved.

I really, really love Kenny Britt. It's been apparent for a while that he had the talent for games like this if he could just catch the ball consistently. He did today and it won us the game.

That was a simply huge win for the Titans. That puts us at 5-2 with wins over Dallas, Philly and @ Jacksonville. Those were three games before the year I really doubted we'd win. If we can beat a very vulnerable Charger team next week, we'll really be in good shape heading into the bye. Hopefully Vince will be ready to go Sunday, though. Until Britt decided to be unstoppable, Kerry looked really, really bad. We need Vince out there to move the ball with consistency.

Childress said the referee came over to him and apologized after Rodgers scramble for not calling holding on the LT. How do you apologize right after a play? If you know it was a holding right away, just call it.

That was just an awful crew.

I thought the officiating was unusually poor throughout the league yesterday, including the replay officials. There were several calls overturned that I thought had no reason to be overturned, and several more upheld that appeared to be blatantly wrong. And then there was the call at the end of the Pittsburgh-Miami game. How do you not establish who had possession of the ball in the endzone when it is obvious that there will be a replay review of the play? Its not like there had to be a coaches challenge to review the play.

There's awful refs all over this league. It remains a huge problem.

The officiating was bad, but it wasn't any worse than the calls in the Dallas-Minnesota game. The only difference is this time the calls went against the Vikings rather than for them.

Regardless of who it goes against, if the refs are going to display this level of incompetence then the NFL needs to increase the number of available challenges.

or Favre's numerous turnovers that were negated by ticky-tack penalties (Suh touching Favre's head, Houston's within 5 yards illegal contact, to name just a couple) in the Lions game

they'll need a lot more bad calls coming their way before they're "even"

That was one of the most ridiculous officiating jobs I've ever seen.

Brad Biggs does a good job of trashing Angelo's lack of O-line draft choices...

General manager Jerry Angelo spoke on the WBBM-AM 780 pregame show Sunday about the offensive line, the position that is under great scrutiny from Angelo, who serves as the team's cross-checker for the position when it comes to the draft.

Injuries knocked Williams out of three games, and Roberto Garza missed his second game after arthroscopic knee surgery. Angelo maintained it's about continuity.

"When you lose a player, or players in our case, it makes it tough on the other guys because one player affects the other four; it just goes with the territory," Angelo said on the show. "That's why I keep emphasizing, it's not about getting great players, it's about getting the same five players playing well together."

Not about great players? Sure it is. What team in the league wouldn't go for Joe Thomas at left tackle? Nothing trumps talent in the NFL, and it strikes me that Angelo is trying to obscure the fact that the Bears are left with a cast of late-round picks and waiver claims and reaches after he failed to address the position during the five-draft span from 2003 to 2007. In those five drafts, as I have documented, the Bears drafted one offensive lineman in the first five rounds. That was guard Josh Beekman in the fourth round of the '07 draft. In that span -- we're talking a total of 25 rounds -- 141 offensive linemen were chosen leaguewide. So when the cupboard went bare after John Tait retired and veteran players flamed out, Angelo had no players that were developing in the system and ready to contribute.

Angelo was asked if the Bears could have done more for the offensive line?

"That's overkill," he said. "I've heard that, seen it written, but that's not the answer. The answer is getting five players that fit what you want to do offensively and then getting them on the same page. We haven't been able to do that. It's not an excuse. It's a reason. We need to get better. Nobody is going to cry for you and we're not looking for tears. We're looking to get better and we're looking for answers and we'll get 'em."

The Chargers are only the fifth tam in NFL history to lead the league in total offense and defense after Week 7 or later.

The other four (87 Niners, 77 Cowboys, 73 Rams, 72 Dolphins) went a combined 51-6.

The Chargers are 2-5.
