I could see them being dogs in Seattle, not at home though. They did lose to the Rams 20-3. Pretty confident the Bears take this game.

i thought it was at seattle, my bad

The Grossman games against Minnesota and Green Bay in 06 are the only ones that could rival today. But because with "Bad Rex" came "Good Rex" and Todd Collins is just crap all around, today seems worse.

With Rodgers likely out against the Dolphins due to his concussion and the Vikings having to play the Jets in New York tomorrow night, Bears could be sitting pretty in the division.

i like to think chad hutchinson is the worst because he went and had a 0.0 rating in a preseason game and then got benched for a rookie that was drafted in the 4th round

The O-Line still gave up three sacks and Collins only threw the ball a minimum number of times.

From RosenBlog http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/rosenblog/2010/10/angelo-needs-to-go-and-he-can-take-collins-with-him.html

Whoever heard of using the run to set up the interception?

Collins’ fourth interception came when he was trying to throw deep to Johnny Knox. Doesn’t Collins know he can’t throw deep? Doesn’t Mike Martz know it, too?

Martz has to stop being so dogmatic about his 5 and 7 step drops. Calling that crap is ridiculous.

To be fair to Henry that 2002 Bucs defense was one of the best of all time. I think Collins might take the cake for all time worst Bears QB performance which would put him near the bottom all-time.

i'm really not that mad at Martz, he has to call a few pass plays and play action passes to keep them keyed off the run completely, its entirely on Collins to at the very least throw the ball out of bounds and not turn it over.

i guess in a roundabout way its Martz's fault for not benching Collins earlier but the playcalling i didn't really have a problem with. Even the stupid toss/sweep plays we run a few times a game sort of worked this game, although i hope i never see them again.

Yep, I'll remember him as the worst I saw in a Bears uniform

edit: before today. I'm not sure who was worse

The more I think about it, it is Lovie's decision to keep Collins in or bench him. Lovie pretty much said so in his halftime interview with Zach Zaidman. I would have given Collins one more shot after halftime once changes could have been discussed, but after that he should have been gone. Lovie's rationale must have been that he didn't think the game was ever in doubt due to Carolina's terrible offense.

You just can't throw the ball deep at all with Collins. Nothing over 20 yards. Martz has to know this. But I am still mad at Martz for last week. He kept on dropping Cutler back in the pocket even after he was getting killed. He learned his lesson in Dallas, but he didn't scrap the gameplan last week or this week.

i get the feeling things just got completely out of control vs. New York. I have a sneaking suspicion that Cutler sustained the concussion much earlier than they let on...he just was too deers-in-the-headlights during that game, accepting sack after sack. This is in no way an endorsement of the offensive line play, but Cutler completely crumpled and couldn't handle his position after the first drive or so.

its not like the run game did anything in that game either, what an abortion

When was the last time two teams combined for less than 100 yards passing in an NFL game?

Dammit Dallas and Green Bay, you are supposed to be our signature wins. Stop looking so bad.

(On second thought, continue being bad Green Bay)

Screw that. This isn't college. There's no rankings here. GB and Dallas can lose every game they have the rest of the way, and I'll be giddy...I hate both those teams.

It's more because I'm still very unsure about how good this Bears team is. And seeing Dallas especially destroy their competition would make me feel a little better.

I am learning more and more each week though....the defense is pretty good and the secondary seems to be getting better each week. I know Carolina had a pathetic air game today but the secondary for the most part did a great job covering the receivers. It's a big reason why we got so much pressure today. I wouldnt consider the sacks coverage sacks, but they didn't really give Claussen and Moore much opportunity to dump a pass off like Rodgers and Romo and Manning have done in previous games.

The offense is probably mediocre but with Jay Cutler is inconsistently above average. Meaning they can be above average but they are flawed enough to have games where they look bad. Biggest flaw is obviously the O-line. If they had even an average o-line, I could see this offense averaging 25+ ppg for a season.

Will this be good enough to get us to the playoffs? It's quite possible. Does it make us Super Bowl contenders? Probably not but I can't eliminate that possibility right now.

Nice to see Todd Collins game manage the team to a victory today.

Sure was worth that guaranteed 1 million. Hanie should be the #2 and LeFevour should be the #3. Collins should be at home watching with the rest of us.

A lot of stingy defenses this year. Here's a look at an updated PA/G Top 7:

Steelers 12.5 PPG (4 games)

Vikings 12.7 PPG (3)

Falcons 14.0 PPG (5)

Chiefs 14.3 PPG (4)

Ravens 14.4 PPG (5)

Bears 14.8 PPG (5)

Jets 15.3 PPG (4)

Nice to know we can still pick up a win or two 'bear style' (ie w/o qb play) if needed.

Today, it was really needed :)
