This season is beginning to look like the 2006 season. Very solid defenses. This time the Bears have Peppers but no Tommie Harris to speak of. Special teams has been great. The offensive line isn't as good as 2006, but Cutler is going to play better than Grossman. The Bears had two decent backs, although Taylor hasn't played up to his ability. Both teams won ugly and had the ability to put up a ton of offense in certain games.

The NFC is wide open right now. The best team might be the Falcons and they won two games by the skin of their teeth.

I winning by 6 points in my fantasy league going into that MNF Arizona game. I only had Grossman and my opponent had nobody.. I lost by one.

SAME HERE! Except my scoring must be different because I lost by 6.

I don't think it looks much like 2006. I can't believe the memory of 2006 is winning ugly. They blew out a ton of teams in 2006. Off the top of my head:

26-0 over Green Bay

34-7 over Detroit

37-6 over Seattle (defending NFC champ)

40-7 over Buffalo

41-10 over San Francisco

38-20 over New York Giants

42-27 over St. Louis

39-14 over New Orleans

Yes the domination wasn't as great as the season wore along and the Bears lost 2 of their key defensive players, Tommie Harris and Mike Brown. But that wasn't a team that won ugly much of the time. This 2010 has its own identity and I don't think it resembles 2006. Honestly more like a slightly better 2008 team IMO.

You are right. Now that I think about it I meant 2005 during the Orton stretch.

Now you're talking.

in that situation what do you gain by playing grossman? i think the correct move is to bench him there in the improbable circumstance he gives you negative points like that

of course im not blaming you for starting him, who would have thought he'd have -7 points lol

Extra points in the case of a tie at the end of the season

IIRC, he had been averaging something like 20 points before that game, too.

Devin Hester said that he didn't think Todd Collins struggled. Definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Or he was just supporting a teammate?

Of course he was supporting a teammate and it was an absolutely irrational support. There is supporting a teammate and just saying something stupid. If Lovie Smith is able to tell the truth ("We got to the point where we felt like we couldn't let them back in the game"), then Devin could.

It's one thing for a coach to say that, completely different for a teammate to say something negative.

the falcons aren't the best team.

Who is?

Based on the last 2 weeks, you could definitely make a case for the Giants. I'd take the Giants over any NFC team next week on a neutral site.

But this is the NFL. Things can change real fast.

There is no clear best team in the NFC right now. Heck, you could probably say the same for the AFC too. This is a weird year in the NFL. Tons of "good teams" but no dominant teams.

I was at the game. There were quite a few Bears fans there. I enjoyed the first quarter, before Todd Collins remembered that he's Todd Collins. Fortunately by then they had enough of a lead that the putrid Panthers had no realistic chance of overcoming. Lovie should be fired on the spot if he ever puts Collins in a game again for anything but mopup duty.

This is a really pointless thing to say.
