New York should go for two if they score here. I never really understood why when a team scores a touchdown when they have a 1 point lead why they don't at the end of the game.

 

you mean when they have a 7 point lead? because two point conversions are successful less than 50% of the time. let's say if you make it (~45%) the game is over. if you don't make it, it's a 7 point game. if the other team scores a TD they tie the game. it's better to make them score and then get the 2 point conversion since there's less than a 50% chance of converting.

I'm not watching the game, so I'm not sure of the exact situation. When I read his post, I thought that he meant that after the six points of the touchdown, that left them up by one point. The XP would give a two point lead and the two point conversion would put them up a field goal.

 

But like I say, I have no idea what the actual game situation is/was.

 

Nah, he meant scoring a touchdown when you previously had a 1 point lead. The TD gives you 6, giving you a 7 point lead. They're arguing the merits and demerits of going for 2 in that situation when the opponent only has time for one possession.

On a positive Raiders note, McFadden had his second 100-yard game this year (he only had 95 against Tennessee) and is third in the league in rushing right now. Hopefully he can keep this up.

I still don't know why coaches call a timeout right before a field goal attempt. Sure, it works sometimes and the kicker ends up missing the second one but it backfires just as often (like with the Saints today) and then the coach looks like a moron.

i missed it, but i agree, i hate our [expletive] team this year. i like broyles and that's about it everyone else can suck a dick.

 

This is the least excited I have been for the game this Saturday in over a decade. The whole Big 12 sucks this year.

The Titans looked kinda bad, but the Giants were horrendous. The defense, much like last year, was a sieve and the offense, while better than last week, still struggled to get into the endzone.

 

Vince looked a little better, but still has quite a ways to go.

Despite the disastrous outing, 49ers coach Mike Singletary remains committed to offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye. He said Raye will remain the team's coordinator the rest of the season.

I think Singletary has been embarrassing himself. That hardass tough guy mentality works great if you're winning, but he just looks like a loon when his team repeatedly gets its butt handed to them.

 

He's really looked like a clown this year. Clearly this situation in San Francisco is not going to end well but I don't know how any other team in the NFL will look at him as a serious head coaching candidate again. And that sucks, because he was definitely my favorite player as a kid.
