Albert Pujols: Glenn Beck Medal of Hope Recipient

Recommended Posts

What the hell is a medal of hope and oh my god what is going on

WASHINGTON -- Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols says he's honored and humbled after receiving an award for his off-field charitable work during Glenn Beck's rally at the Lincoln Memorial.

Pujols says he thanks God for giving him a platform through a high-profile career -- and says that allows him to be more than just being a player.

Pujols has set up a foundation that helps people with Down syndrome and assist the poor in the Dominican Republic.

Pujols' manager, Tony La Russa, says heroes often are seen as products of movies, television and fiction books, but there are real-life ones.

La Russa says Pujols has had amazing accomplishments in baseball, but what makes him so special is his commitment to his family, faith and community.

I'm sure Albert has done a lot of good through his charitable work, but I wouldn't want to receive anything even remotely associated with Glenn Beck.

I wouldn't mind receiving his paychecks.

Pujols should be smart enough to realize he's being used, and that too big a percentage of that crowd would have him and his family thrown out on their asses were they among the insignificant souls cleaning houses or mowing lawns for a living.

Could it be that he's just too polite to turn down an invite?

It might be the latter... he accepted an invite to a home run derby at my college a few years ago, The university of South Alabama, while he was in town doing his own charity golf tournament. No real incentive for him to show, he had his own stuff going on. He's kind of a nice guy

and he also realizes who actually gives to charities.

I ran over to the scene to make sure the victim was still breathing or Glenn Beck.

A girl I know posted a status on Facebook about how she would have loved to attend Glenn Beck Rally, so I posted the audio of him bad mouthing the 9/11 victims families. Hopefully it changed her mind.
