Haha...people I work with give me crap for being so interested in women's soccer, but damn if this team isn't fun as hell to watch.

They're going to be exhausted for the gold medal game.

At least it's not until Thursday.

McKayla completely blew it in the individuals. Like a ball put on a tee and a swing n' miss.

She's apparently not the nicest young lady in the world.

Based on?

People who have dealt with her this week? She didn't seem to be a very gracious loser last night.

She's 16 yrs old and just messed up on the world's biggest stage. Take it from someone who has worked with kids my entire life, 16-yr-olds sometimes have trouble dealing with emotions, especially on a large stage, especially in high pressure situations, especially when it involves disappointment.

Now, I have no idea what she is like on an every day basis. But I would hardly judge her based on how she acted after losing an event in which she thought she should win and messed up when the entire world is watching her and she has little time to process her emotions or come to grips with the situation.

That game was awesome (though I can't believe the ref called Canada's keeper for holding the ball too long).

Yeah, that was quite the call. Not necessarily wrong, but quite a gutsy call to make in that game.

Rematch vs. Japan to make for last summer's final's loss, they will be more than ready.

She was upset. What should she have done that she didn't do? She hugged the girl that beat her...

Yea, what did I miss? She hugged all the other competitors at the end.

Japan's midfield is going to control that game, though.

The key for the US will be scoring the first goal.

Even if they do, I don't buy this group's ability to hold enough possession to keep a clean sheet. Their defense has a bit too much of last ditch, gritty tackle and not enough ruthless efficiency.

Their only shot is to turn it into a shootout, because no one has attackers that can match Rapinoe, Morgan and Wambach.

I know that it was a huge loss, and there's a lot of bitter feelings going on, and there was a controversial call, but this is a bit over the top, imo.

"Devastated," Sinclair said. "We feel like we didn't lose. We feel like it was taken from us. It's a shame in a game like this that's so important the referee decided the result before it started."

Doesn't seem over the top at all to me.

You don't think it's over the top to accuse the referee of fixing the game?

I don't think it was an accusation of fixing as much as it was an accusation of the ref being awful and ruling favorably for the US, which seems to me to be how futbol people react to poor officiating all the time.

If the calls were the exact opposite I think many US fans would be outraged by how much effort appeared to go into trying to get Canada the tying goal.

I don't have any problem with her being upset over the call. That's justifiable. Maybe my inexperience with the futbol atmosphere had me reading more into it.

Did USA women's water polo coach just send the game to overtime by calling an illegal time out with one secon left and a one goal lead, giving Australia a penalty shot?
