Delaney better get his head out of his ass and keep the OSU/UM game on the final saturday, otherwise there will be blood on his hands from the mass suicides here in Columbus

So it wouldn't be all bad

So the NCAA has denied Jeremiah Masoli's eligibility. Didn't see that coming. Ole Miss is appealing.

I sure as [expletive] did. Masoli at Ole Miss was a game changer in the SEC. There are some powers that be that didn't want that. This is garbage.

This is a completely arbitrary ruling on their part because he met every requirement of the waiver process which is routinely rubber-stamped by the NCAA. Masoli's waiver situation was in no way different than Greg Paulus or something like that.

The NCAA's arbitrary power is ridiculous and unfair. If the appeal is denied, I hope he sues them.

Is the conference that weak this year?

It's not that. It's that Ole Miss was still a strong ass team going into the season, but they just didn't have a QB, so they weren't going to be competing for the West more than likely. Given a good QB, especially a Heisman caliber like Masoli, then they are right there in it with everyone else.

Ohhhhh, so you're just pissed your team didn't benefit immediately after acquiring a free agent criminal.

What felony did Paulus commit again?

uhhh, yes. If your team was one position away from being a contender and a Heisman type player at THAT very position fell in your lap, you wouldn't take him out of some lofty principle? ya sure.

what bothers me most is the arbitrary nature of this ruling. How is this different than Greg Paulus? This type of waiver happens all the type in the NCAA, so clearly their ruling on Masoli is arbitrary because he met the requirements listed.

the ncaa doesn't think a felon (who plead to a misdemeanor, but whatever) should get the same transfer benefits as everyone else?

and you're crazy if you think everyone is going to have the same attitude about their team adding a felon to their roster. Did you really think this guy is the only thing standing between Ole Miss and a BCS title?

I don't have a team, but I can see why somebody who did would feel that way. I could also see many many people not being okay with it. The point is that you are completely lying to yourself if you think this was just like any other transfer.

Fine, some people would have a problem with it, but I doubt most would, especially after reading about what he ACTUALLY did, which was really nothing more than hanging around the wrong people.

And I didn't say a contender for the BCS. Did you not see me mention the "WEST" as in Western Division of the Southeastern Conference.

If you're going to sell your soul at least demand a higher price.

oh stop with the hyperbole. Did you actually read about what the guy ACTUALLY did? He's not some uber-thug who sold drugs or committed an armed robbery or beat the crap out of someone.

What's wrong with selling some drugs?

Ole Miss is replacing their QB with a system option QB, losing their number one rusher/receiver hybrid, and 4/5 of their O-Line. They were going to fight Mississippi State for last in the West even with Masoli.

I think it's funny how fast Ole Miss fans turned on Snead.

because you're in the know right? Most of us were still pulling for him up until the final game and were still wanting him to come back even after his suck ass season last year.

Considering the way the parade of criminals are handled at any number of programs year after year there is some arbitrariness involved in this decision.

I disagree. We replaced a QB who did more harm than good last year with a system QB playing under the coach who pretty much brought the whole "wildcat" thing back into college football. If anyone knows how to manage a quirky offense, it's Nutt. Dexter is certainly not replaceable, but Ole Miss has a fairly large amount of young offensive weapons, plus Masoli is quite the offensive weapon himself. Our greatest weakness was going to be OL, and we lost 3/5, our LG and RG are still there. However, the weakness at OL was going to be masked quite a bit because of the skills of a QB like Masoli. With Masoli I was predicting them to win at least 8 games (Jack. St, Tulane, Vandy, Fresno St., Kentucky, Miss. St., Louisiana-Laf., and have a win against Tenn or Auburn).
