Brad Maynard was on the radio this week saying he bought himself a nice TV and setup because camp is a pretty relaxing time for him.

Is he still driving the minivan?

Mike & Mike predicted 6-10 (Greenberg) and 5-11 (Golic) for the Bears this year.

Meh...I don't expect the media to be on our side this year. The good news is, the media knows squat. Two years ago everyone expected us to be bad, and we went 9-7. Last year everyone expected us to be a serious playoff contender and we sucked. In 2005, Peter King called us the worst team in the NFL and we had a first round bye.

ESPN.com has "Camp Confidential" on the Bears today, and they don't seem too impressed with the secondary. Of course, that's with Harris out, and Wright not starting.

I just don't understand how we got worse over the offseason. 5-11 is predicting an utterly disastrous season for Cutler isn't it? The defense should be better.

Whatever, preseason football predictions mean squat.

Defense and o-line another year older?

I don't know, I don't really believe it, I'm just playing Devil's advocate.

Yeah, the defense doesn't have to be better. Peppers should make the line better, but not necessarily given the other departures. The LB have been deep, but Briggs and Urlacher have taken turns getting injured, and the secondary remains a question. I could see a decline. But I wouldn't predict 11 losses.

Peanut and Briggs are older. Urlacher and Pisa basically had a year off and that allowed some young LBers to get on the field. Ogun/Brown to Pep/Anderson is younger on balance. Tommie isn't too old he's just inconsistent and hurt a lot.

I'll give you the offensive line...they can't possibly be worse at run blocking though. Cutler may get killed, however.

Of course it is the NFL and teams collapse/rise all the time in one season all the time.

But that's kind of the problem with guys getting older anyway. He's not technically old, but physically he probably is. A step or two slower than his heyday and injury prone is the heart of the problem with the defense.

The Tommie thing just hurts because he would've likely gotten more years at above-average performance than he's going to wind up getting.

But, that's football. It's always something that can happen to a guy.

Honestly, what scares me more than anything, is Lovie's nearly insane optimism about this team...talking about Super Bowls and such. I can't take anything he says seriously when he's delusionally optimistic like that.

I'm still hoping for pass protection improvement by virtue of what I saw from Chris Williams late in the season. Maybe I'm crazy, but if CW solidifies as a pass blocker that's a large part of protecting Cutler right there.

I'm not delusional enough to think this is going to be a good line, but the beginning of the year last season was nightmarishly bad. If Cutler can get decent blind side protection early in the season this time around, maybe he can settle in more as the season progresses and, hopefully, improve that TD/INT ratio.

Schefter and Seifert both say Cutler threw to the TEs a lot. Probably playing it up for the ESPN guys before they leave town so they can go talk about the Cowboys some more.

I'd pencil them in to be a hell of a lot closer to 10-6 than 6-10.

That can only mean you are predicting 9-7 or 10-6.

I hope this turns into a multi-page picking of nits.
