At this point it's just more fun to focus on the bright spots (watching Castro develop, Marmol, can't believe I'm typing it but Silva, and so on) and go ahead into "wait til next year!" mode. It makes the losses hurt a bit less.

So you like all the troublemakers?

What makes the least sense of all of this is... hasn't Zambrano been an active participant in the "hazing" in the past?

Obviously it can be taken to an extreme with someone like Bradley, but it's [expletive] stories like this to make it really easy to see why some think there's a noticeable racial/racist element that can't be ignored when it comes to being a Cubs player. I mean, really...a Latin alliance is bringing the team down? Really? This is so absurd and stupid all it's missing is someone accusing them of shooting that rancher in AZ, too.

It has been reported in many circles that every single major league clubhouse is more or less a segregated community, with latin players and american players the biggest seperation - and then obviously some black and asian guys. So it's not that hard to imagine that Ramirez and Zambrano head up some little latin group that has taken Castro under their wings, and maybe protected him from some stupid hazing nonsense. That probably would have happened if they were 10 games over.

Yeah, but what's "disturbing" about that?

Nothing. I'm just saying the story is somewhat easy to justify from some fool that wants to interpret normal clubhouse relations as some new scary breakdown.

The disturbing part is that the finger pointing has started

Well, the disturbing part would be the untrue stuff, about Ramirez not caring and shooting pistols at anyone who comes near Castro.

Why is that disturbing? What certain segments of Cubs fans can't seem to grasp is that a crappy team is likely to have a less then happy-go-lucky clubhouse. They seem convinced that it MUST be due to a certain person or people dragging everyone else down, and if those people or that person was gone then everything would be great and they'd all be smiles and sunshine even if they were 20 games below .500.

I find it believable because it was posted on BCB and then on here and that's all it takes.

People start making crap up about everybody just because the team is bad. Come on, this is some dumb blog [expletive]; Aramis refuses to take the field (in spite of the fact that he's been both bad and hurt but still wanting to get ABs)? Latin divide in the locker room? I'm sure it's no different than any other group of people with commonalities sticking together. Frankly, that's as stupid as believing Lou doesn't care, in part, because he's decided not to shave. What the hell does facial hair have to do with anything? If this team didn't continue to find inventive ways to lose there wouldn't be this speculation.

Oh yeah, it's the rookie bullpen guy who carries the candy backpack so Castro wouldn't have done it anyway. I saw Cashner wearing it on TV in Houston.

Which makes me wonder, where does Fukudome fit into this whole BCB rumor?

He randomly sneaks up and jumps on the white guys.

well, ricketts and hendry have pretty much one option here: get rid of all the white guys.

but on a serious note, you'll be tolerated at wrigley if you are either hitting the ball or are white, non-hispanic, of course.

You can't just be white. You have to be white and look like you try really hard and not strike out too much.

Lou's obviously lost all control if this is legit.

I thought the Cubs were getting a guy who kept a tight clubhouse in Lou Piniella. He really has softened in the last couple years. I don't think he has the energy or will to keep a tight ship anymore.

I just can't believe he let Ramirez bring a gun to the clubhouse. That has to be illegal.

Zambrano killed a guy with a trident.

if aramis hits a game winning home run and then pretends to shoot all of his teammates when he gets to home plate, he will be my favorite player of all time

That will never happen......A Ram hitting a game-winning home run of course.

I've been meaning to talk to him about that. He should probably find himself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because he's probably wanted for murder.
