If they are gonna sell that beer for 7 bucks a pop until a boy loses his judgement this kind of thing should be expected from time to time.

My favorite part of the idiotic stance about the taser thing.

If they were selling beer for $1.00 and looking the other way on underage drinkers, he'd have a point. But selling a beer for $7.00 is actually a more responsible way to sell beer, as it lessens the likelihood of goons chugging a case and getting stupid. Sure, it's raping the customer's wallet, but it probably leads to more controlled stadiums than if they sold it for $2-3. Furthermore, everybody gets carded at stadiums. They make it relatively diffiult for a kid to get drunk, no, not impossible. But more difficult than when I was underage.

Other options:

A few solid knocks to the skull with a club

Pepper spray to the face at point blank range

Hire Farnsworth to perform the takedowns

I'd be disappointed if they didn't do these things to him after they tased him.

Perhaps next time they could talk over the PA and ask the next idiot who runs onto the field his or her age and what their intentions are so that no "innocent" people get tased. That makes much more sense.

I can't believe the first idiot is getting air time on tv.

Also, maybe they should have a sniper in the press box. Someone runs onto the field, blam.

In order for snipers to stay sharp, they NEED live target practice. I think you are on to something. Gotta protect that 25m a year investment out there.

I'd be all for adding a dart gun option.

Fill that thing up with animal sedative. Hunt him down like you would an escaped monkey.

If some 17 year old punk runs on the field and doesn't get tasered, I'm leaving.

Not only that but I'd show up at his house the next night and taser him again just to drive home the point.

Wow. I was expecting much less support for the cop in this thread. Magdal was the only one trashing him?

Honestly, I'm on the fence on this one. There have been many instances where tasers have killed people that were committing minor offenses. In my opinion this is a minor offense, even if it is technically a felony. However, I understand the argument that we don't know if he was going to harm somebody. I have always thought that cops should have more leniency than they are given when it comes to using guns on fleeing suspects or those that could potentially harm others. I guess with that logic I have to support the cop in this instance, but it seems to me that they should have been able to tell that this guy was just a stupid teenager looking for airtime (which now he's getting).

A simple tackle could also cause serious damage. The kid knowingly committed a crime and then attempted to flee, he made his bed. I don't see the point in trying to blame the cops for anything that happened.

Gotta love cops playing with their toys when they don't have to

The kid was fleeing arrest. The cop was well within his legal rights to use it. Cops are supposed to use the minimum amount of force necessary to end a conflict. Who knows how long the kid would have ran. The cop used a tazer and ended the situation as quickly as possible with as little force possible. I applaud him.

Did you see the guy chasing him. He wasn't going to catch him if the kid had a limp.

You're all a bunch of grumpy old men.

You act like this is such a deplorable offense. "I'm gonna come to his home and taser him again?" Please

Oh yeah, the cool kids know this stuff is nothing but fun times.

Did I say anywhere that I condoned the kid's actions? I'm only addressing the ridiculous overreactions in the thread. And whether or not you agree with the cop's decision, the use of a taser in this situation ended up being completely counter-productive. It got the kid the recognition he was looking for (actually a lot more than he could have reasonably expected) and it encouraged a copycat the next night.

The use of the taser stopped him. I'm pretty sure that's all the guy was thinking about doing. I'm also pretty sure that most of these responses have been purposefully over the top. I doubt most people actually want snipers and beatings and all the rest.

I would like snipers positioned toward home plate to take out those idiots that wave at the camera.

It's not the most gentle thing, but I'm not feeling sorry for the guy. Keeping your dumb ass off the field really isn't that hard.
