I am 100% in favor for the tazering of idiots. I hope this sets a precedent: Run on the field, and your ass gets tazered.

This! And during football season any player who tackles a fan should get a bonus.

Couldn't disagree more. How is security supposed to know the kids intentions? Yes, most likely he's being an dumb kid, but you don't know if he intends to harm a player/ump/coach etc.

Yup. In almost every instance, someone running on the field is just drunk and looking for attention, but there have been enough instances of players and umps being attacked that it shouldn't be tolerated.

It's really not hard to understand. If you don't want to get tasered at a baseball game, all you have to do is stay somewhere in the stands.

Unless the cops want you to do anything but sit still in your seat.

Not that this guy didn't deserve it, but...

There's a debate on whether this should have been done or not?

Wow.

6 bajillion against 1 does not necessarily equal a debate.

I'm really glad I have this guy on ignore.

I really can't recommend it enough.

You got me on ignore but still read the quotes, huh? In the 1st place the kid wasn't running, he was jogging around in circles waving a stupid towel. He was threatening NO ONE, just acting an ass. The proper police action in this situation is APPREHENSION, not attack.

If the security was even half way phisically fit they could have grabbed him in an instant. Just wait 'till his lawyer gets thru with the Phillies. You won't see any more stupid, fat tubs of goo working "security".

Wow.

Thankfully its not much of one.

There's been quite a few people calling it incredibly excessive and dangerous on other websites. They're saying tasers can be fatal even to healthy young people. Guess what, so can a clothesline from an angry security guard. My honest opinion? I'm fine with it. He was tasered by a police officer while committing a felony (at least it's a felony in Chicago, not sure about Philly). If that's not enough, he was evading law enforcement (resisting arrest). I think the first thing they teach at the academy is that if someone is resisting arrest, you do anything in your power to gain control over that person. And yeah, he was running around like an idiot and looked harmless, but you never know where that could have led. He could have run around for a while, then suddenly pulled out a gun from his waistband. Ask Monica Seles if she's okay with him being tasered.

BTW, one of my new favorite pictures...

Actually, he was tasered by a police officer. And the Philadelphia police department has already come out saying he was well within their guidelines to taser this person. They claim he did nothing wrong.

He was trying to arrest a suspect who was trying to flee. You're telling me you wouldn't expect to be tasered if you ran from a cop who was trying to arrest you? Just because it was on a baseball field doesn't change the facts.

Sorry, but that's a short sighted, ignorant excuse for a solution. There is a difference between attacking thugs and drunk kids on a lark. If they are gonna sell that beer for 7 bucks a pop until a boy loses his judgement this kind of thing should be expected from time to time.

The old, fat, unfit security gets the final blame. But it's too expensive for the cheap ass team to hire off duty cops like they used to who know how much force is needed; and the least, the better.

Don't tase' 'em Bro!

he wasn't even drunk you mongloid

Unless someone else wants to pick up this side of the argument, Magdal won't be replying to anything in this thread ever again.

The Mongoloids had a really good army back in the day. They took over most of Europe.

Another dumb [expletive] ran on the field tonight in Philly.

I hate Philly fans. I really do.

I bet that dumb [expletive] wanted to see if he'd get tazered, too. I wish he would have.

Probably someone who heard the first guy might have cause for a lawsuit, so he figured he'd get in on the fun.

The AP is reporting that the guy who ran onto the field had drugs on him.

You can't make this stuff up, folks.

Careful Truffle might have to stop by to say how dignified Philadelphia really is.
