Simple solution - convince the Clippers or Kings to take Deng.

Ideally that Deng for Pietrus/Gortat rumored trade would save us 500k instead of cost us 300k

There you go. Make that trade and ship off Johnson for a future pick.

Problem solved.

I'd almost rather sign David Lee or Boozer (if you can save some real money), keep Johnson and Gibson as bench pieces, keep Deng as a sixth man, and maybe retain a pick or two to fill out the roster than S&T for Bosh.

Pietrus and Gortat are good bench options, though. So not only are you saving money and perhaps getting enough money to where you can get a second max FA, but you also get an additional body and two guys that can make contributions off the bench.

My understanding is that the Gortat/Pietrus deal doesn't save any money for us. It'd clear up a potential log jam at SF if Lebron signs here though.

I was talking about clearing the decks totally to be able to sign Bosh as opposed to keeping some pieces and getting a Lee/Boozer type on a smaller deal (to go with another max/near-max FA).

Correct me if I'm off here, but doesn't Bosh provide an outside game that could help free driving lanes for both Rose and LeBron? Given that Noah's man will sag off him, I think it's important to have a 4 that can shoot.

The Heat's gameplan is fascinating to me. They basically have no roster outside of Chalmers and then Beasley who they're desperately trying to deal all in the hopes of landing 3 max free agent's. The Bulls and Nets are at least set up to be decent if they strike out on the top 3 targets. The Knicks and Heat are going to be dreadful for years if they strike out.

Being decent in the NBA sucks. I want to be a true championship contender or have the most lottery balls if I'm an NBA GM. Nothing in between.

I just looked up some of the data and Boozer, Lee, Amare, and Bosh can all spot up. In fact Boozer shoots a slightly higher percentage than the others on perimeter shots while Amare is the best finisher at the rim. Bosh basically can do all those things well and you've got to like his potential length alongside Noah. I think he has more defensive potential than the others (Boozer/Lee are crap and Amare just doesn't care)...Bosh has never played on a good defensive team, really, but he's never had a dedicated big who will help him guard the rim like Noah.

But any good offensive power forward is going to be a good shooter in spot up and pick and roll situations.

PTI and Sportscenter have had like 3 different segments pimping LBJ and others to the Bulls in the last hour. There's also some free agency special on at the top of the hour where I'm sure all of that will be repeated.

No elaborate Lebron free agency tour in the offing.

If I didn't know better I think Lebron and his team without saying it, just eliminated the Knicks. And if the Knicks can't sell the idea of New York on Lebron then they truly are no better then the Warriors or Pacers or even Minnesta.

BTB, on news that "Lebron won't go on recruiting tour" news, the Knicks had to cancel there spectular "celebrity" laden cook out and are trying to come up with Plan B.

at this point i'd bet that lebron has probably already made his decision, or at least has a strong front runner in his mind. he's been waiting for this for how long? i'm sure he's exhausted every possible angle in his mind and has a firm grip on where he'd like to go.

really it wouldn't even surprise me if he's known for months (or even longer) where he plans to go.

This is why I hate when people try to talk sports with me at work.

Woman at front desk: "My son was a huge Michael Jordan fan, you never heard of him out womanizing."

what did you say?

I just said "yeah." No point.

Yes, with the caveat that Lebron doesn't go to Miami. Adding Lebron and Bosh and you seriously start to entertain breaking the 96 Bulls all time win record and establishing a dynasty but Johnson/Bosh can definitely contend for awhile.

I think his recent failed playoff run really put the nail in the coffin.

I am beginning to think that I would rather have Boozer than Bosh. The Bulls don't need a spot up shooting 4, but a banger who has moves in the post. Isn't that something Boozer does? Bosh is a slightly better scorer, but if the Bulls have LeBron and Rose, Bosh or Boozer isn't going to be putting up more than 20 a game anyway.

the main question with boozer is his health. can he stay healthy?
