He tripped and fell (=drunk) at his house and broke his hand.

I just can't believe something like that happens. I have never come close to tripping on a bag in my life but somehow a professional athlete that needs his body to be in good condition to do his job manages to do that and fracture his hand in the process.

I know you're not that gullible.

Also, while I never buy the, "I tripped" excuse, I've been very very drunk before and never managed to injure myself too seriously. Some bumps and bruises is about it. I guess they have more weight coming down on their bones when they fall, but I'm not light guy either. So whats the deal?

lol - so because you have never hurt yourself while drunk, you don't think it's possible for someone else to do so? That can't really be your argument, but that's pretty much what you just said.

Well I realize its still possible, but it seems to happen a lot for a small pool of people. Maybe it doesn't actually happen as much as it seems to, I don't know.

And while I did just reference myself, that also goes out to all the very drunken people I spent time with as well. I think I can only remember one person breaking a bone because they fell while they were drunk. Seems to happen to several athletes from various sports every year.

I'm guessing that if you or anyone you know/knew hurting themselves made national headlines, it would be a bit more memorable.

A friend of mine was drunk and walking home from a bar before he tripped on a curb and broke his ankle.

I'm sure the incident that Boozer had was alcohol related.

Noah is reportedly going to get his extension, somewhere around 5 years for $60 million.

Just heard this on the radio a little while ago and surprised there hasn't been more talk about it.

Well it just so happens it occurred right when our big offseason acquisition suffered an injury, so I guess that's why there hasn't been much talk of it.

A good chunk of change though. I guess they see what a lot of us hope we're seeing with Noah. A very active big man who is still young and hopefully still on an upward trajectory.

Ronnie Brewer won't play tomorrow either because of a hamstring issue. Wouldn't normally be a worry except a hammy injury is something that bothered him all year last year and caused him to miss significant time.

Keith Bogans will start in his place.

It's a good deal -- much better than what I thought we were going to give him.

He probably punched something.

670 in Chicago was saying that from the research they did, almost all injuries of the fifth metacarpal occur due to punching something.

Well wouldn't falling to the floor and bracing yourself with a closed fist constitute the same motion as punching something.

Boozer himself said that if he had managed to hit the ground with his hand open instead of in a fist he probably wouldn't be in this situation right now. So most likely for whatever reason he tried brace his fall with a closed fist and broke it. He must have had something in his hand that made him not want to open his hand to land with an open palm, because I'm pretty sure the natural reaction is to open up your hand to brace the fall.

Or he's lying.

He certainly could be.

But why would he casually mention that he fell with a closed fist? Did he have a doctor tell him that the only way he could break that bone was with a closed fist, so he figured he had to mention that so his lie matched up with the injury? I guess its possible.

In the end it doesn't really matter how he got hurt. I don't care if he's lying as it doesn't benefit my life one bit to know the truth.

Oh I don't mind either way as long as he wasn't punching women, a cab driver, or someone in the organization (unless Pargo is still on the roster somehow).

BTW, James Johnson is the new training camp fluff story of the week and he'll get some run with Booz being out.

8 weeks takes to around December 1st or so.

I guess we can go that long without him. It'll suck though. Kind of like the whole Hossa thing.

He really has to miss two months for a broken pinky? Can't he get a pinky cast and take some painkillers before the first game?

Man, if only the professional athletes in Chicago were as tough as you. They would be unbeatable

Kids these days, I'll tell ya.

Why, when I was younger we rubbed dirt on it and gritted it out.

anytime you can lock up your 12 point, 10 rebound 1 block center with bad feet for 12 million dollars a year, YOU HAVE TO DO IT (bill simmons voice)

Where did I say I was tough?

Yeah, Flames, why was this a better deal than expected? What were you expecting, a max contract?

And who breaks their fall with a closed fist?
