Depending on how much you suck and if your roommate really is blind I would say 3 division III basketball players might be able to take you. Triple team MJ, not like you gotta guard the blind guy.

Basically it comes down to you making open jumpers.

Does anyone really think a center doesn't matter? People are wildly underestimating the damage Dwight Howard would do to the Heat.

Doesn't really matter. Can Dwight Howard guard LeBron, Wade and Bosh at the same time? Howard is not an offensive player. Defense is a great thing, but guys who can create for themselves and score consistently are a rare asset in the league. The Heat would have 3 guys who could do that.

@RicBucher: FWIW: disparate opinions among gms, agents, league HQ officials today about where LeBron is going, but consensus on 1 thing: it's not Mia.

Yea, I forgot they had 3 of them on the team =D> Also, with the amount of time Wade and LeBron would be driving to the basket I don't think Howard would be in the game long enough to matter.

I mean if James isn't saying anything, if Maverick isn't saying anything, if Gloria isn't saying anything, if Leon Rose isn't saying anything, then where are these sources getting their info?

1. These people don't actually have any sources. They are making stuff up to make themselves look good. Since everyone is doing this and most everyone will be wrong, a single person won't look bad if they were found to put out complete lies because everyone is.

Or

2. Maybe World Wide Wes is after he got shut out.

 Well I suck pretty bad, but If I got a little bit of practice time I know I can knock down some open jumpers.

Either way, you get my point.

I've moved on to looking at SGs, since even if they do somehow get James, they'll need some depth at SG.

I feel awesome for sticking to Cleveland this entire time even though I didn't believe it.

We've never had a situation like this, so who knows? But I'm hard pressed to remember a team that didn't win with an inside presence. The Lakers went from nothingness with Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom (way better than Chris Bosh) to a juggernaut with the addition of Pau Gasol.

Dwight Howard may not have an inside game, but I'm not sure how needed it will be if he's facing up against Dexter Pittman.

Just heard that Jay-Z has bought 2 courtside season tickets to the Miami Heat for $900,000.....

Wade said no to that. Something about Jay-Z not being loyal enough.

The 90s Bulls didn't have a strong inside presence.

I'm not a basketball expert, but wouldn't the Jordan Bulls be examples 1 through 6?

Howard is not an offensive player.

He scores 18 points a game on 61% shooting. He's not Shawn Bradley.

Eh, they had Grant and Rodman respectively. Yeah, neither time did they have anything resembling a classic or ideal center, but at least they had big guys who would play like beasts under the basket if needed.

I know becoming an NBA fan just because you read Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs in college and became the world's biggest Chuck Klosterman fan leaves you at a distinct disadvantage, but this is a Chicago-centric board, so try to remember who Michael Jordan was when you're posting about the league.

Having some dudes who played C or PF isn't the classic definition of "inside presence" when discussing NBA champions.

So, if/when James doesn't choose Chicago, who do we blame? Management for not selling it well enough? James for not wanting to play here? Jordan for leaving too long of a legacy? Rose for not pitching it well enough? The city for not being Miami or New York?

So you think Dennis Rodman was a schlub on defense and the boards?

Also, to a lesser extent, the 00s Pistons.

Yeah, to a way lesser extent since Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace played on those teams.

By "inside presence" I'm not just referring to offense, since rebounding has proven to be pretty important in winning basketball games.

I wouldn't be surprised if this LeBron special goes on and on and then it's over and he doesn't announce a team. With this offseason nothing would surprise me.

Well, I thought the discussion was focusing on centers since Kyle brought the 90's Bulls up. That's about the only way to could say the Bulls didn't have an "inside presence."

Well one of those "dudes" averaged a 14/10 and over four offensive rebounds per game during the first three-peat, which obviously makes him a player of no consequence.
