ESPN says LeBron is meeting with Pat Riley tomorrow

Now do you believe?

A second meeting with Riley?! No one backs out after a second meeting!

Posted
The Lakers won the most games in the West each of the last three seasons and advanced to the Finals all three times. Regular season wins do matter.

Let me rephrase that. Regular season wins don't always matter. How many people, after the Cavs lost in the playoffs said, "You know, this roster isn't really that good."

UMFan, I believe made a good point a few a day or so ago (on another site) when news broke that Lebron was holding a press conference to announce his intentions, he said something to the affect that you can't trust ESPN (or it's reporters) right now because of the conflict of interests that ESPN has with showing James press conference. This kind of information is leak to help pump up viewership for tomorrow night.

Could James be meeting with Riley tomorrow, that may be true, but unless Riley is going to Greenwich (which would be awkward) or there having a meeting by phone, I wouldn't read too much into this. Unless Miami can trade Beasley, there not getting James, plus Bosh (especially) and Wade are not going to take a paycut to make it happen. I know what Broussard said, but I just don't see the superteam happening.

Posted
not to mention but going to miami is not a good move for lebron. yeah, hed win titles, but if hes all about going down as the best player in nba history, how does winning with d wade make sense? the best thing for lebrons legacy would be to win in cleveland, but who knows if thatll happen. im kinda pulling for him to just stay in cleveland now. at least stay away from new york and miami.

All of those occurred before LeBron pleaded with Bosh to come to Cleveland. Cleveland is very much in the running.

There "in" the running, but I think they chances are slipping each day. Cleveland is a vastly overrated 60 team. If there isn't a major trade (cause there is nobody on the FA market that could convince him to stay) in the next 24 hours that gets Cavs a major 2nd star, I don't see Cleveland as being viable. And if he does stay..... :bye: at championships.

ATP I don't know where he is going, and 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 of the people that follow this story don't know where he is going. You can argue for the Bulls, Cavs, Knicks, Nets, Heat, and hell you could also argue Dallas and maybe the Clippers as possibly getting James. Some are more obvious, but still an argument can be made for all of those teams.

Carmelo Anthony is getting married close to LeBron's venue which may be the reason it is there. Of course LeBron could always fly there from anywhere.

Is it just me or has the Chicago brass been remarkably silent after their meeting with LeBron?

If he already decided on playing in Miami, then I don't understand why he needs to meet with Riley before the announcement. Sounds more like Riley trying to sell dynasty to LeBron.

I would still be shocked if superteam happened in Miami. Shocked.

I'm not sure Lebron can win here, in the public eye, at least. With this dramatic, all about me and my decision thing he's got going tomorrow, he's going to piss off a ton of people, no matter what he does honestly.

My initial thinking is he wouldn't leave Cleveland THIS way, but maybe the charity thing is his last favor for Cleveland, in his eyes.......But if he leaves, they will be pissed beyond belief, probably as much as when Modell left town in the middle of the night to Baltimore.

If he DOES choose Cleveland, then everyone else is pissed because he didn't choose their team. Basically, I'm not sure how he wins, at least as far as publicity goes.

He has said this is all about winning though, so I don't think Cleveland is in the driver's seat, because I think you can make the case that each and every team's roster that interviewed him is better than Cleveland's(even the Clippers once you add in Griffin) right now, assuming Lebron isn't on any of them.

I don't think Lebron is a win at all costs type personally. I don't think he has the fire in him that Jordan did or Kobe does now. If I'm handicapping this thing right now by percentages, I'm going like this:

Miami-30%

Cleveland-25%

New York-20%

Chicago-15%

New Jersey-10%

Clippers-nada

I think that he THINKS if he goes to Miami and wins it'll still be considered "his" championship and not Wade's. I'm not so sure personally that it would be the case and I'm also not so sure that you can add enough pieces around them to make them a true title contender for at least a couple of seasons.

I can certainly see Cleveland pulling at his heart and him just not being able to leave there in the end. But, I don't see them in the driver's seat and I still see them as being the 3rd best team in the east, if they DO keep him.

New York is New York and the bright lights can certainly sway him. Once again, if they get him, they'd still need to find a way to get Tony Parker or some other capable PG, if they're going to contend. But, if they can do that, then they have a legit shot and have one soon.

Bulls are a contender if they get him. Immediately. But, when all is said and done, I don't think Lebron wants to have to follow Mike. I just don't think it's in his personality. i really hope I'm wrong here.

The Nets would be close if they got him and J-Z and Prokhorov make for a dynamic team that probably really planted a seed during their meeting. But, they haven't lured anyone else, to this point, and that's why I've got them this low.

I'm not sure why the Clips even tried. Lebron wouldn't want to share Staples with Kobe, under any seeable circumstance, if you ask me. Although, I actually kind of like a starting 5 of Kaman/Griffin/James/Gordon/Davis......I'm not sure they'd be contenders immediately, but you could see where they could see gains in some of their players and become better by the time the Lakers are fizzling out. I just don't see Lebron wanting to wait it out though. Not to mention, they're the Clippers, which was probably all I really needed to say anyway.

Exactly. Sounds like a last ditch effort for Riley to change his mind.

and he plays in front of the best fanbase in the country.

Ugh.

Say what you want. I've lived in Chicago for 15 years, New York for 15 years, live in California now. There is no city as sports crazed as Chicago. It has the combination of a large population and a sports crazed fan-base. NY can't compare. I don't think any other city can, quite frankly. Not even Boston.

Look at the Cubs attendance when the team is marginal. Look at the Blackhawks victory parade. I'd like to see another city have that kind of turnout for a world series or superbowl parade. This is after they had an owner for years who didn't put games on TV. Look at the Bears. Brian freaking Urlacher is one of the most famous athletes in the country and sells more jerseys than many better football players. The Bulls filled the arena when they sucked.

I love NY, I love California. And to be honest, I'd rather live in either NY or California than Chicago now. But in terms of being a sports town, there's no comparison.

as much as this has been gut-wrenching for bulls fans (even fake ones), as an outsider, this has been absolutely fascinating to watch play out.

This myth has already been debunked. If he doesn't come to Chicago, it won't be because he doesn't want to follow Michael.

the more i hear about him, the more i like the idea of anthony morrow on this team. ten more minutes per game and i think he'll explode.

i think starting:

rose

morrow

deng

boozer

noah

is pretty [expletive] tough.

Apparently the Cavs writer was just on ESPNNews and said he thinks Lebron is coming to Chicago. Aaron Goldhammer is the guys name

Did he give a reason for that opinion?

I believe his name was mentioned on Boers & Bernstein this afternoon due to a story where LeBron James filed paperwork recently to change a business address from Cleveland to Chicago. I don't know if that is all he is going on, but it sounded sketchy at best.

How has it been debunked? Because a few people in the media said they don't think it's an issue?

Either way, if it's true that a big part of the Bulls pitch was about Jordan, then I think that was a horrible, horrible mistake.

Where did Adande say that? I get the idea that the Bulls probably had the most realistic, fact-based presentation whereas the other teams went for something more emotional, humorous, or extravagant. Choosing a team really shouldn't be about who can put together the flashiest presentation.

It's not the Bulls' fault that LeBron is a [expletive].

Well if they missed on him BECAUSE he's a dick, then it was their fault.

All apeculation though so I guess it's pointless to talk about any of it.

You seriously think that lineup wins more than 17 games?
