I root for the Pacers by default, but they aren't going to be good for the next 50 years. So I want the Bulls to sign Lebron, Wade, and then have Dirk "accidentally" leave his contract in the pocket of his sweatpants when he washes them...and then sign him. And Dwight Howard. Yeah.

KG had to jump straight the NBA because he couldn't even qualify for college.

OMG SICK BURN

I mentioned that like a month ago. Probably in this exact thread.

You hate Paul Pierce because he hams it up when he gets hurt and hate Garnett because he yelled at the Bulls from the bench. Isn't that pretty silly?

And I don't even hate Rose. (Except for his performance in the last minute of the title game). I don't see how pointing out that he's of below average intelligence is anything to get worked up about. It was a joke. Jokes that multiple Bulls fans have laughed at.

If you're speaking to the larger point based on what I've written in college threads, that has a lot more to do with a level playing field than any sort of moral code. If there are rules in place that 90% of the schools are following, it puts them at an unfair disadvantage to the Memphis, UKs, and USCs of the world who don't.

Ulimately any little fan beefs towards athletes are frivolous. But at least those are basketball reasons.

And I sincerely doubt you hate Derrick Rose because some guy took an SAT for him to qualify for a college he never should have had to attend in the first place. That would be incredibly lame.

Lack of news today. It would be very stupid if these three guys decide NOT to sign with Chicago. You've got two All-Star caliber players in Rose/Noah who are only going to get better over time. Gibson and Deng are solid players as well perfectly capable of being great 6th men.

All this talk of wanting to win championships would put all three of them going to Chicago, but if money or emotions get in the way, they're staying put. If they don't sign with Chicago, none of them will win anything in the next three years. Book it.

Oh, Noah's an all-star caliber player now?

After Howard, who is an all-star caliber center? Lopez, Bogut, maybe Bynum would be better options than Noah? Does Duncan count as a center too?

I would say Derrick Rose, and any other high school player capable of jumping straight to the NBA at a high level, is put at a much larger disadvantage by being forced to waste a year in college than fans of the angelic programs you root for. That is his livelihood after all.

Do they give us the trophy right after we sign Lebron? They'll hang a banner with his number on it before his first game right?

I still don't think it would've been that easy. The road in the East would've been much easier but you still have that certain team who is poised to win three in a row, looming in the West.

RicBucher: Wade/Bosh know Chi is the best existing unit they could join + they'd be dominant. But 1 or both wd have to give up $30m. That's the rub.

I agree, the age limit rule sucks.

Also, way more than 90% of colleges have nothing to gain by gaming the NCAA system because they're not attracting pro quality talent to begin with.

If you think 90% of big time college programs are following NCAA rules I think you're being pretty naive.

I'll freely admit I have no real evidence to back that up but I think I'm right.

This board is sometimes a great case study in strangely paranoid and neurotic Chicago Fans.

There is absolutely no way, ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, the Bulls whiff on ALL free agents, but thats not necessarily a good thing. They will sign somebody, a David Lee or a Boozer GUARANTEED, the team is too good, they have too much free money, the CBA is coming to an end, its just going to happen. If they were a Knicks or Nets quality team they might whiff, considering how awful the franchise had been the last decade, but they are going to get someone.

The only thing left to worry is if they get someone either A: Worth the contract (A Bosh or Wade or Lebron at max) or B: A good roleplayer at less than a max. If they mix A and B together (do something disastrous like give a 29 year old, injury prone Boozer a max contract) it could be bad OR THE CBA COULD COMPLETELY CHANGE AND WHO KNOWS WHAT COULD HAPPEN. Thats why all these crazy contracts are happening anyway (Joe Johnson in Atlanta)

I guess it depends on your definition of center. There aren't many guys who play traditional center anymore, but it's not like the all star teams have requirements that you have to play a certain % of minutes inside the paint to make the team. Lee, Howard, Horford, Bosh, and Garnett were the frontcourt players to make the team from the East last year. I don't see Noah as being on any of their levels (Even with Garnett's decrepitness)

Noah was probably 13th or 14th on the All-Star curve last year. It's not really that crazy.

Jamaal Magloire and Brad Miller made ASGs once upon a time.

I'm assuming when a person says all-star caliber they're not talking about Jamaal Magloire or Theo Ratliff.

ETA: Noah's career could turn out the way Ratliff's should have if he was motivated and healthy

There's been this sort of fiction created since LA won the title that that was a great team. I don't think so.

The Shaq-Kobe Lakers would've obliterated that team and I think Ariza -> Artest was a decided downgrade. I really think it was one of the weaker champions of the decade.

Them only signing a David Lee or a Boozer is our fear.

I'm doing the rounds responding to stuff from 10 pages ago now

Us not getting any of these superstars again is karma for how we treated Jordan and Pippen after '98.

Wait...why does there need to be karmic justice for this, it was clearly an "action reaction" that immediately after they left we were the worst team in the league for about 10 years

Posts like these dazzle me:

I really don't think we have much of a shot with Wade, even with the custody battle. I can't see him leaving 30 mill on the table to play at home, especially with the divorce situation. Hell, he can spin it and say it's BETTER for his kids if he STAYS in Miami, because of the extra money involved.

This, in turn, probably means we don't have much of a shot with Bosh either, unless Lebron actually decides to play here. And even then, I'm not sure we can get Bosh from Toronto without giving up Noah.

My guesses on where these guys wind up are as follows and I really hope I'm completely wrong, but I think all these guys will wind up going for the absolute most money they can possibly get, in the end......

Lebron-Cleveland

Wade- Miami

Bosh- Houston

Boozer- Miami

Lee- San Antonio(sign and trade for Parker)

I'm praying we don't get shut out of this mess and I am certainly a pessimist, but I think this is a very real possibility......
