Report: Bosh won’t agree to Cavaliers sign-and-trade

LeBron James may return to the Cavaliers, but Chris Bosh doesn’t want to go with him

http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/sports/lebron-james-twitter-sign-cleveland-chicago-20100706

There are reports out of Cleveland from the athletic director at LeBron's high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary, who is telling people LeBron will have a press conference there Thursday to announce his decision. LeBron and his handlers aren't commenting on this story, but the timing would be right on considering Thursday is the first day free agents can sign contracts with their teams. And what better a place to do it than LeBron’s high school, to which he's remained very close?

This sounds like he's staying in Cleveland.

My first thought on reading that was if he's staying, he could just announce down at the Cavs' arena or practice facility. If this is true, I think it means he's leaving.

Also if he's decided he's staying, why not announce it at his camp? Why wait until Thursday?

Extend the drama a bit. It's better theater.

I know it's mostly a business decision, but I will have more respect for LBJ if he stays in Cleveland. I think it's a wonderful story. Also, I like the Bulls but I'm not emotionally invested in the NBA, so the sports fan in me loves a good home town story.

To hell with that. Give me the damn rings :)

Well, I get that because it would create an absolute circus at a camp where kids are trying to work on their game.

But I still think there's something about him doing it at his high school and not in Cleveland.

To save some suspense, if he does it in Cleveland everyone will know.

maybe he wants to tell them in person so that they can't say bad things about him like "he left town without even waving to the fat people that came to stand outside of his hotel while he talked to some guys"?

Enjoy your stay in purgatory, Mr James.

James' twitter bio is "King of Akron". Probably staying.

He's always been adamant about separating Akron from Cleveland, though.

Not that I want to divine too much meaning from a twitter bio.

Everyone are divining a lot from a little right now. But I agree with you -- I'm not seeing that or him announcing at his high school (if that's even true) to mean that he's leaving.

I'm not really a Bulls fan, so I don't think I'm being a downer. That's just the reality of the NBA: You need multiple elite players to win a championship, with very rare exceptions.

But here is the good news for the Bulls, by the end of the 2010-11 season Rose will be a bonafide superstar. Not to mention Noah is quickly becoming an elite rebounder/shot-blocker/hustle player. So we got the two important positions filled already.

No. The most important position is "superstar who is good enough to be the best player on a championship team", and we don't have that... and probably aren't getting one in the next few years if we whiff on LeBron/Wade.

Posted

Let's keep in mind that the last three eastern conference champions were headlined by players that are not on Wade/Lebron's level. There's more than one way to bake a cake.

It makes it easier with a talent like that but if there's no super team formed in the East it can be done.

Team executive hears that if LeBron re-signs with Cavs he might ink 2-yr deal and go through this madness again in 2012. Never know
