You never know though. Dirk's best chance at a title is probably going to be somewhere else, he might realize that this will be his best chance to move and do it.

No you never know but basically everyone is under the assumption that it's a near certainty he re-signs with Dallas. I'm guessing there's good reason because reporters and analysts are trying to think up every possible crazy scenario and combination of free agents.

I really really really hope we don't end up with just Dirk Nowitzki or Joe Johnson, that would be worst case scenario i think (even over not signing anyone and keeping open cap)

Signing Nowitzki is like the Cubs signing Moises Alou a few year ago, while still productive, neither player can get your over the hump. I don't really expect a huge decline for Dirk, but Dirk alone would make this a disappointing summer.

Everybody point and laugh at the Knicks...

The Knicks are targeting Joe Johnson as their No. 1 free agent choice and believe he's a better fit for the team than LeBron James, according to an NBA source with knowledge of the team's plans.

"Yes, we think he's a better player," the source said of Johnson. "He makes other people better. With LeBron's people running the locker room that hurts the organization."

The source also mentioned concerns about James' entourage taking over the franchise.

"I don't care what most people think," the source said. "I'm not saying that LeBron is not a good player, but other stuff comes with it. LeBron's friends want jobs. You're gonna lose running your organization. As time goes on you got to hire this guy, you got to hire that guy."

Yeah, that's known as rationalization :)

I'm with Keener, I just want LeBron.

I'm not really understanding the lack of Dirk love either. He still has a good 3-4 years left and he fills a couple of our biggest needs. He'd be a great fallback option if we don't get Bosh.

I think it'd be awfully hard for us to get both Lebron and Bosh.

I just want to get Lebron and let the rest fall into place. I haven't been this nervous about a FA in quite some time.

How about ever?

Yeah

If you get Lebron there's still so many places you can go. If the Bulls get Lebron I really wouldn't care if they got Bosh or Amare or whatever. I'd settle for 2 less than max FAs that are good role players.

I'd take:

PG- Rose

SG- Morrow

SF- James

PF- Deng

C- Noah

Bench- Gibson, Channing Frye, Tony Allen.. for example

The biggest question I have, is if Bosh is ready to sign before Lebron, do you offer Bosh the max contract first?

Yes because you can work on S&T possibilities with Toronto. Plus a Bosh commitment would mean that much more to LBJ.

It sounds like like the Bulls wants a big man (rather it is Bosh, Boozer, or worse case scenerio Amar'e) in the bag before they go chat with LBJ6. Then pitch the ideal or Rose/Noah and said FA PF to LBJ6. Not a bad plan, but I guess whoever can get Bosh, or Johnson, or whoever committed to them the quickiest/earliest, then my guess that team will have a legitimate chance at landing James.

So if the Bulls want to do a sign and trade for Bosh, could they have already talked to the Raptors about it? That shouldn't be tampering to talk to them....

I'm sure just about anyone would want Bosh, too.

Well, that's exactly what the article says. Good job with the detective skills.

Deng as a PF?

Does it really make a difference? Is he going to be that overmatched in the East by the likes of Rashard Lewis, 90-year old Garnett, Beasley, and Josh Smith.....the PFs on the other good teams in the East?
