The more I hear of these stupid rumors the less I want any of these ego-money grubbing maniac players playing for Chicago. The modern day athlete is not human.

Agreed. Let the other teams deal with these guys

Championships are stupid.

I'm confused. Are championships bad when owners do things the wrong way, or when players do them the wrong way?

Broussard was just on ESPN sounding pretty adamant that the meeting between James, Bosh, and Wade really took place and that denials are coming in so there's no taint of tampering.

Uh, how can the players be charged with tampering?

Because these players are not "FREE AGENTS" yet, they are still employed by the current team until July 1st. As such, these players are still a respresentative of said teams. Which means, like their organizations these players cannot BY NAME talk about another team's player who is still technically under contract. Hence, tampering.

I heard that Lebron was singing Go Cubs Go in the hotel lobby. He's coming to Chicago man! This is getting hilarious. At least this circus is much better than watching the Cubs right now.

Nono, he was signing "Go Cubs Go" but he was drunk and probably joking.

Maybe they've spoken before, but it seems pretty unlikely that this summit took place as described this weekend.

If Wade was in court Friday for his divorce, then it seems more likely to me he wasn't in Miami Saturday and Sunday.

I don't know I think Redflash might be right. It doesn't take much to get charged with tampering even if it only results in a fine.

i'm not kidding when i say that in the last week i have heard at least 15 times how dwyane wade is "acting as pat riley's personal recruitment assistant" or something to that effect. It seems really dumb to pretend that these guys can't talk to each other about their plans.

Oh yeah I'm sure they're talking. I hope Rose is talking too.

But I do think agent/handler types would want to put the kibosh on stories of their clients meeting in person with guys who aren't technically free agents yet to discuss their own impending free agency.

Actually, one of the links posted in here last night about the alleged summit that never happened mentioned that David Stern said such player-only meetings weren't considered tampering.

It just seems weird. So Pat Riley tells Wade, "hey, go talk to Bosh, and show him these numbers. This is what we want to offer him. Also I wrote up some of our plans, how we want to use him, a basic outline of our offense, as well as how we plan to proceed as an organization over the next 5 years. Make sure you take notes about what he says and bring it back to me."

Now obviously I think him doing that is tampering, but its hard to prove it as long as the wrong people don't get ahold of the plans he gives Wade to show Bosh. And even then you can't prove they weren't what Riley typed up to give to Bosh after 7/1

I don't really understand the fuss over the "summit". Whether or not these guys actually met face to face all at once, they've all been talking to each other. I don't really see the distinction.

lol fail.

but the more i think about it, the more i feel like it doesn't really make a difference. we all knew these guys were going to talk anyways.

What we need is Jo and Derrick giving FAs the full court press. Noah can be the hype man and Rose can mumble a thing or two about how great it would be.

Does Reinsdorf go to Akron with GarPax, Rose, Noah, and Thibodeau?

Someone on RealGM said that's whats happening. He'd better because if he doesn't come that sounds a bad message to LeBron. JR knows how much this will mean to his franchise and the money making opportunities....he'll be there.

Yes. Reinsdorf/Paxson nearly had LA8 convinced to leave LA for Chicago, so I imagine they will use some variation of that gameplan.

Did Reinsdorf ever pay the luxury tax during the Jordan years? LeBron might be wondering how he will pay for Rose if he gets two max guys this year.

Is Boozer going to be a max guy? Since there are so many teams and so few players, he could become one even though his talent shouldn't place him there. I would just rather have LeBron, Boozer, and Ray Allen if the Bulls could financially swing that. I want a shooting guard who can shoot.

The luxury tax wasn't put in until 2003. So basically people are holding it against Reinsdorf that he wouldn't go into luxury tax territory on the backs of the Kirk Hinrichs and Eddy Curry's of the world. But it is something to consider...if you get two max guys and then have to give Rose the max and Noah $10+ mil you'd be way into luxury tax territory.

On the draft coverage, the cap specialist guy was talking about how the new CBA might have a more punititive luxury tax mechanism too.

Boozer probably isn't a max guy yet and if you signed a guy like him or Lee alongside Lebron you'd have some money left over but not enough for Ray Allen. Maybe JJ Reddick or something.
