the biggest competitor for james is miami, that's just common sense. i still think we have an edge with rose and noah. he may be able to win 5 titles with wade, but he'll win 10 titles with rose and noah.

If the difference is 10 titles to 5, I think south beach wins out.

I really don't think Noah and Rose is an edge over Bosh and Wade.

Why is Miami getting credit for signing Bosh?

I really don't think Bosh and Wade is an edge over Noah, Rose, and Bosh.

For most people, sure, especially non-south beach areas. But where really rich young people can go, it's glorious.

Yeah, but it is virtualy impossible for Miami to land both Bosh and Lebron and re-sign Wade. A lot of chips have to fall for that to happen before Miami could sign all three. Not 100% impossible, but near. Personally, Miami would be better off signing a guy like Bosh, work out a sign-n-trade for Gay and fill the roster with good compimentary players, over putting all your eggs into one basket (James/Bosh/Wade) and HOPING you get the trio.

And look at UMFan go at Screamin' A. Smith over at Realgm. Man, he's on a roll.

true. i still think chicago has more to offer really rich, young people though. there's just no saltwater beaches or guys roaming the streets playing a conga drum in a hawaiian shirt 365 days a year.

it's all moot anyway because lebron can chill in south-beach every day he's not playing or practicing no matter where he chooses to play, it's for vacationers, after all.

Steven A is an idiot. A week ago he guaranteed the Knicks. Now he 'gurantees' the Heat, but embeds it with caveats later like I believe and unless Lebron changes his mind.

This is an attention grab to get views for his show/twitter etc. Everyone is saying the Bulls so he is trying to do something.

I wish he'd go away.

It's still an open issue and I can't say he's wrong until decisions are finalized and official announcements are made.

i hope this super team happens so i can laugh when it fails miserably

not necessarily the bosh/bron/rose thing, but like a bron/johnson/wade thing.

How can the Heat afford three max contracts? We know the Bulls, as of right now, can't even offer two. Likewise, Miami can't offer three.

Plus, Pat Riley just said the other day that they can't sign three max guys.

Well, there's a difference between signing 3 max guys, and the Heat signing LeBron, keeping Wade, and maybe pulling off a S&T for Bosh. I don't know if it still wouldn't be enough to get those three, but there's a distinction.

I'd be interested in knowing what that distinction is, then.

The NBA cap is more complex than "you have X dollars available, and max contracts cost Y dollars, so you can afford X/Y max players".

I know. I guess I mean I'd be interested in knowing how they are going to do it, specifically. Especially since I haven't heard much talk about the Heat being able to do this up until just now.

The problem with a S&T is that the Heat don't have any players, let alone players to deal in a trade.

they might be able to sign lebron and bosh, and then sign wade, taking them over the cap. that would be legal.

lol, which time?

It was the past in which you quoted SAS and made counterpoints to everything he said. I couldn't find it, but I know it is there.

From a basketball standpoint Miami makes as much sense as Chicago for Lebron and Bosh to team up. Maybe even more if you think Wade and Lebron will really coexist well together.

The difference is if Lebron signs here there's no question who is the alpha dog on the team. That's not the case if he went to Miami.

Shorter term, Wade might make more sense than Rose. Longer-term, I would think Rose makes more sense.

The best part of this entire circus is reading all the theories people have on why LeBron would want to do (or not do) something.

LeBron's legacy takes a hit if he goes to Miami over Chicago.

What's the more lasting impression - winning 5 titles with a top 3 player in the league on the same team? Or winning 3 titles with a guy that, from all accounts, would gracefully accept a sidekick role in Rose?

Those title numbers are obviously completely arbitrary, but I think it's more meaningful for LeBron if he branches himself off and does his own thing. Of course I'm extremely biased, but individual legacies mean a ton in the NBA. LeBron prides himself on being an NBA historian. He's not a dummy.
