It's pretty typical of the Cubs to completely fail to make solid in-the-air contact when the wind is as loud as Len has ever heard it.

I'm getting sick of this "with runners on" talk that Len just brought up, but Brenly actually had a decent answer.

Len pisses me off. He's a smart guy, but he acts like he's not when he's on the air.

Come on, Alf. Just get it in the air.

No.

Just hit the ball hard. The worst thing these guys can do is try and place their contact based on wind conditions. A pop out on a windy day is usually still just a pop out.

So is it typical of the Diamondbacks to do the same?

But they are an NL west team that only comes to town once a year, so they don't really know how Wrigley plays.

I wouldn't know, since they rarely play here and even more rarely do so when the wind is howling out.

the annoying part is that the first game we lost to the nationals, we hit 4 fly outs to the track; those would've been gone on a day like today. then yesterday we didn't hit any deep fly balls.

the cubs are certainly creative in their ineptitude.

Well, the Cubs don't know how Wrigley plays, so the Diamondbacks not taking advantage of the conditions would be typically Cub-like.

He's not being paid to appeal to smart fans. He'll drop in some stuff from time to time to raise the discourse in the booth, but the casual fan isn't going to listen to him reading BPro on air.

Hah! Nicely done, Len.

what did he say?

When Geo came to bat Pat said, "Soto batting .362, not bad for you eighth hitter."

Len said, Geo batting 8th, he has a OPS of 1.0whatever the heck it is. And then went on about how good the Cubs catchers have hit.
