What a great series and good to see the Cubs GIVE a pounding for a change.

 

Cubs come back home for a 7-game homestand and kick things off with the first night game at Wrigley. I will be in attendance, so I'm extremely glad the rain is nearly out of the forecast.

 

The Natinals will send this guy...

Ramirez was carrying an OPS of around .600 when the CUBS hit NY a week ago. .600 is a bad slump..... but then he went 0 for NY, and the numbers went right through the floor. He's only had 2 hits since then, and those came in the last 2 games.

 

He seems to be making better contact and hitting the ball with authority on Sunday. I sure hope that's a sign that he's coming out of the funk that he's been in. We really need Ramirez..... we're not facing Milwaukee this week, eh?

The Nationals are basically Brewers Light. They have a lot of guys who can slug the hell out of the ball, but pitching really isnt their thing. Livan Hernanadez, who weve never had much luck with has been as big of a surprise as Silva early on, and I think we face him tommorow. Tyler Clippard, who I dont know if we have to face and Matt Capps are off to nice starts, but the rest of that pitching staff can hopefully keep our offense going.

The Ramirez slump surely won't last much longer (I know, famous last words).

 

He actually had much better ABs in the 2 games I saw him this weekend. He made solid contact a few times -- just didn't place it where the defenders weren't.

 

He didn't look lost at the plate.

 

Of course, Brewer pitching is bad, but then again so is the pitching for some other teams.

I'm calling at least 2 Arambombs against the Nats this week.

 

That might be a little bit ambitious given the weather forecast. Cold with string winds out of the NNE (in from left field) is gonna make it next to impossible to hit one out tonight or tomorrow night. Wednesday afternoon may be better.

 

Of course, this weather is good for our pitchers.... who haven't allowed a HR in the last four games !!!

No, on the contrary, Soriano finished last season at 3.85 P/PA, while he's at 3.72 P/PA right now. I haven't checked yet this year, but league average usually runs between 3.70 and 3.75.

 

edit: Soriano had 3.71 P/PA in '08.

I know some people will think I am pessimistic, but I am hoping for a .500 homestand. The Nationals have played the Cubs tough lately, and we can't seem to best the D'Backs anywhere. I'm hoping we go 3-3 on the homestand.
