All I'm saying is that there is a very good alternate explanation to his sudden outburst of offense to him coming around. His offensive production has been more a result of the pitcher than his personal peaks and valleys.

 

And you know for sure that his streaky ways in the past aren't similarly accountable?

 

You could argue that every streaky player gets hot when pitcher pitch to their strengths... Its called baseball..

No. But as bad at their jobs as I think baseball management is, I have a hard time believing it's that bad.

Im gonna laugh if in one week we are .500 or better and people are thinking false alarm... The truth is the last 4 games the team didnt hit for crap, this offense should hit the ball pretty well so who knows.

OK, Im getting optimistic about Silva and its scaring me.

 

If it makes you feel better (or worse), Jason Marquis in 2007 and Carlos Silva in 2010 are eerily similar. Both had ERA's over 6 the previous season, both acquisitions were greatly panned by most, both times there were reports that Rothschild found some reason why that pitcher was so ineffective, and now both of them starting the season red hot and fans were unsure how to react.

 

Of course, we all know how Marquis' season ended.

My Mariners friend is predicting his imminent demise every start. What fun, comparing if Silva or Bradley is more valuable. :roll:

 

I try to talk about the weaker NL lineups, his increased usage of the changeup, it doesn't matter. "Silva sucks and that's all there is to it."
