it was meant to show that if lebron weren't coddled by NBA refs, while he'd certainly be a star, he'd be far less effective on the offensive end. perhaps more effective defensively though.

Now, if you swapped Rondo for Rose on the Celtics, I am not sure how much better they would be. I think Rose would make them slightly better, but what makes Rondo work well is he distributes the ball well and he plays good defense, which I think the Celtics need more than another scorer.

So Rose is worse at what the Celtics need, but he'd make the Celtics better?

so if LeBron were on the Bulls and were getting the same "coddling" treatment by the refs, would you still hate him?

Yeah because Rose is damn good scorer which would offset not having the ability Rondo has.

i don't see what that has to do with it at all.

i wouldn't hate him but i'd still think he was overrated.

Yes, the Bulls would be one of the worst teams in the league with Rondo as PG instead of Rose. They would be historically bad on offense (instead of merely bad which they are) and while they might defend well they would stop putting in the effort with no scoring threat.

While that might be true, it doesn't prove that Rose is the better player. It just proves that he's the better player for Chicago. Most people on this board agree that Bosh would be a better fit for Chicago than Wade, but I doubt any of them think Bosh is the better player.

And I thought I was a cynic. You don't need to be a douchebag to be great, and I think DRose is out to prove that. I don't care if DRose is a metrosexual off the court. Joe Mauer isn't a douchebag and he's great. I hate to say it but Pujols is great and he's not a douchebag. Same with Chase Utley, CC Sabathia, etc. I know there are alot of great players who are douchebags, but there are those that are not.

Can you name ant great BASKETBALL players that aren't douchebags?

Tim Duncan and Deron Williams

Much better choices (and more recent).

Is this douchebaggy? Or just the confidence every great player has to have?

"I feel I was the best point guard in the league for a while,'' said Utah's Deron Williams, who is averaging 25.8 point and 11.0 assists in the series with Denver. "I think I'm the best point guard in the league. No reason. I just think I'm the best.''

That's just a fact.

Well 2nd to Rose obviously who'd probably have the Jazz undefeated.

it IS a fact. although you're going to have the anti-illini/pro-acc and chris paul bias going on.

deron is the king of point guards, but rose has more physical tools.

Just fire VDN already. What the hell are they waiting for?

And while you're at it, Jerry, send Pax a-walkin' as well.

There's absolutely no logical reason how Paxson can retain his job if VDN is fired. Paxson made that hire and that would be the second coach in just a few years that he sent packing.

I have no clue as to what they're waiting for in regards to VDN. I just hope they're both gone.

They're waiting till the weekend to fire VDN...probably tomorrow evening to try to get it out of the news cycles as much as possible.

Also need to make sure everything is taken care with regards to the GM/Head coach physical confrontation.

When's the nearest holiday, that seems to be Reinsdorf's MO

It's a little late for tactics to limit the exposure of the VDN firing. The entire media world has been on it for a long time. It's a been a topic since Christmas.

I wonder if they are deciding on Paxson's fate, and that is the holdup.

Grant Hill isn't great anymore, but other than being from Duke never struck me that way.

Speak of the devil, ESPN is running a good article about Hill...

I gotta admit, as an extremely casual NBA fan at this point, I didn't realize Hill was still in the league.

How is there a Chicago Bulls playoff thread this long? What have you people been talking about?

Free agency mostly...

Which reminds me someone needs to start the offseason thread. I'm too lazy to so someone get on it.

Good, I was getting sick of talking about Rajon Rondo in just this thread.
