The fountain at Daley Plaza is a weird red in a supposed tribute to the Hawks

Every time the Hawks win, Daley murders an enemy and has his body tossed in a fountain?

What do you folks up in the Chicago area think the interest level is in this team right now? Going beyond the hardcore fans?

i'm not in chicago, but i'd think he has to be seriously heating up.

if they make it to the finals, the bandwagon will be out in full force. im near tampa and during the lightning's 2004 run, the bandwagon didn't REALLY heat up until the finals.

then of course there were thousands of bandwagoners watching game 7 outside of the stadium and pretending that they actually cared

Wow, I cannot believe we took both games in SJ. Now if we can at least get a split in Chicago, we head back to SJ with a commanding 3-1 lead.

I agree with you. If we can split in Chicago (which is weird to say about your home ice, btw) I think we take Game 5 in San Jose.

Now for those who are greedy and wants a sweep, I want to be there with you in spirit with that thinking, but I don't want to press my luck. Let's see where the series is after Game 3. If the Hawks have a commanding 3-0 lead, then I will jump on the sweep bandwagon, but winning in 5 at San Jose, is just as good.

Any winning at all is good.

It's going beyond the hardcore fans, but I don't think it's captivated the city by any means yet. If you just judge it by the tv ratings the Hawks are getting, we will get there. If we get to the Cup finals, I think the majority of Chicagoans will be on board. Won't be as big as when the Bears got to the final game, but still significant.

The Hawks playoff games were the highest rated programs on CSN. Ever.

Why does Barry Melrose hate the Hawks so much? It looks like it pains him when is forced to say something good about the Hawks.

IDK what you are talking about, but Melrose has been on the Hawks bandwagon since Toews/Kane era began. In fact the Hawks are his favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Not to mention he's in love with the Hawks jersey.

Yeah I swear in every analysis of the Blackhawks he throws in "and they have the best jersey in sports."

i've only heard him say it about the hawks

Fixed

your post was actually fine, i just misread it

i'm jacked up

Oh yeah, I know the Hawks' place in the city. I just hope folks get on board and hopefully the Hawks can make some new fans. I was listening to the score on Sunday and most of the talk was about the Hawks. Last time I lived up there (during the dark ages) the Hawks were NEVER discussed on sports radio. I mean literally never, except to give the scores in the updates.

yeah, he loves the hawks.

He said Kaner isn't as good as either of the Sedin twins and that San Jose should figure him out. IDK, the few times I heard him speak it was little barbs like that...maybe I should watch the whole telecast, huh? lol

i don't think we should even be discussing where the series might end. way too early for that.

I agree but, what's encouraging to me is they're going to start playing better at the United Center so, you got to like they're chances in game 3.

I didn't say he was a smart man (a 50 year old still wearing a mullet, come on), and the Hawks are definately his favorite in this playoffs.

I can't really pick out any players that played poorly in the last two games. Or even much below expectations. The top 4 defensemen have played well. The 3rd line has really been effective and the 4th line has brought some energy and physicality without big mistakes. Hendry and Sopel (5-5) haven't been outstanding but haven't had major gaffes and have made some nice plays.

Obviously Niemi is a big part of that and the Sharks haven't finished on some chances but we had a lot more uneven play in the previous two series.

See I don't mind losing game 5, so we can clinch the series at Wrigley Field in front of our fans.

kane will be a perennial 100 point scorer when he's been in the league as long as those guys.

I want to punch myself every time I think of how I was before, during and after that game.

Yeah back in the day on Mac, Jurko and Harry, they used to get in trouble if they discussed the Hawks on the air. And when they did, people would call in and tell them to stop. Also, it was only what 2 years ago that the Hawks had to pay the score to broadcast their games on the radio.
