Hossa's been very quiet in terms of lighting the lamp, but his facilitating and his defense have been exceptional throughout the playoffs.

 

We've really come out strong here in the 3rd.

 

Yes, Hossa has been awesome, even though it would have been a cheapie was hoping he was get an empty netter. What about Bolland!!!!! What more can you say?

for the first time since the 97-98 bulls, i actually feel like my team is going to win a championship. with the bears in 07 and cubs in 03 i thought they had as good a chance as anybody, but i didn't actually think "man, id really be surprised if they didn't win the title".

 

If you figure 50/50 chance of winning any game against the Sharks and a 65% chance to beat the Eastern champ, the Blackhawks are now over 50% to win the Cup.

IDK what you are talking about, but Melrose has been on the Hawks bandwagon since Toews/Kane era began. In fact the Hawks are his favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Not to mention he's in love with the Hawks jersey.

I hear ya. With the 03 Cubs, I obviously felt like we'd finish off the Marlins, and thought we could beat the Yankees or Red Sox, but I thought it was probably a 50/50 chance of doing so. Same with the Bears. I thought it was possible we could beat the Colts, but I didn't expect it. I don't really know how to handle this, it seems too good to be true. I've been dealing with the struggle for so long, it's weird to have the finish line just standing there waiting for the Hawks to cross it. I need to stay level headed though, and tell myself there will still be challenges ahead.

 

Other than the Bulls, the only other championship team I've followed is the 1997 Michigan Wolverines, and that was split and very anticlimatic. I'm in pretty uncharted waters here.

It's going beyond the hardcore fans, but I don't think it's captivated the city by any means yet. If you just judge it by the tv ratings the Hawks are getting, we will get there. If we get to the Cup finals, I think the majority of Chicagoans will be on board. Won't be as big as when the Bears got to the final game, but still significant.

Oh yeah. As a guy who hasn't watched hockey since the late 90s, I've been talking with people who are watching the games but haven't been to any since Jordan was a Bull. I used to be surprised when I ran into someone who knew how they were doing. Now I expect it if I know they're a chicago sports fan

I agree with you. If we can split in Chicago (which is weird to say about your home ice, btw) I think we take Game 5 in San Jose.

 

Now for those who are greedy and wants a sweep, I want to be there with you in spirit with that thinking, but I don't want to press my luck. Let's see where the series is after Game 3. If the Hawks have a commanding 3-0 lead, then I will jump on the sweep bandwagon, but winning in 5 at San Jose, is just as good.

I just realized the Hawks got outshot again tonight and still won. But I think part of that was the gameplan coming in and also the gameplan with a 2+ goal lead.
