Salo is listed as day to day. Apparently the swelling needs to go down (you think!?)

He was seen walking around at the airport though.

Hope he's OK. It's one of those things that evoke immediate empathy, even from fans of the opposition :)

I wouldn't be heartbroken if he doesn't play, but yeah, I hope the dude's business is in order.

I agree that the first goal in this one will be huge. I don't see the Hawks as a particularly fragile team, and I don't think the intensity of playing this game on the road will intimidate them. But I'd still breathe a lot easier if they get that first goal.

They have showed a lot more resiliency in the playoffs but this is still the team that would have a 3-0 lead in a game and give up a goal and watch the floodgates open.

I hear you. But, and this is just a hunch of course, Niemi is due for a monster game. When's the last time he really tore it up? I don't think he really has in this series. Of course, when you score seven goals I guess it's not necessary. But this is the time for him -- he's played some of his most insane games on the road in tough buildings this year, including I think one in Vancouver. That's my call -- Niemi goes bonkers and not only stands on his head, but glides on his head all the way down the ice, flips over on to his skates and gives LUUUUUUU a Stooges-like two-fingered eye poke.

Indeed.

Quote from an anonymous commenter to a Vancouver Sun article about Salo's injury:

I guess he'll need to change his name to Sami Solo.

According to Kuc and Rogers, Salo is on the ice for the morning skate. Also, Q hinted at one change for tonight, but did not elaborate as to what that change may be.

Bickell in for Eager or Burish wouldn't be a bad idea. Neither of them have been particularly useful the last few games. Otherwise, Q just needs to bury Hendry on the bench.

Again, not on any station I can see. If I have to endure another Penguin's game

Hawks and Canucks are it tonight.

Yeah Hawks are the only NHL game tonight. It's on VS and CSN, though for out of town people like me I assume CSN will be blacked out again.

I wonder if VS will do a separate announcer team then. Or just cut in on the CSN broadcast. I believe I've seen it both ways.

I have to assume it will be a VS crew. I feel like it's been that way all throughout.

VS only has 1 announcer team I'm pretty sure. Or if they have 2, they don't use them both all the time because they have shown feeds of CSN games throughout the playoffs, particularly on Sharks games I've noticed. I think it's just because VS. only shows one game at a time so if there is a game that starts at 6 on VS, and another game at 7 VS doesnt show the game, but will show the CSN feed at the end of the 6pm game. Does that make sense?

They definitely have at least two. Doc and whoever called the Pitt-Mon game last night and Forslund-Edzo called the last Hawks game. I just assumed tonight would be the VS guys on that channel.

It probably will be, because it's the only game.

They've cut in on the CSN broadcast before though. I don't know for sure, but it seems to make sense that they do it when they are joining a later game in progress

I think they only show the local feed when there is another vs game and they then cut in to show the other. I'm fairly certain they have at least 2, since I've seen non-olczyk that were definitely VS feeds, and he is doing VS games. And I have heard both Emrick and Sam Rosen.

VS has at least 3 announcer crews, and probably 4. they have doc emrick, joe beninati, john forslund, and some other guy whose name escapes me doing pbp, and i can think of at least 3 color commentators too. they only cut to other broadcasts when they're cutting mid-game.

i'm also pretty sure they have a deal with CSN, because they've taken every CSN broadcast (philly, chicago, san jose) given the opportunity.

eta: forgot about sam rosen because i can't stand him, but i don't think he did VS games all season until the playoffs.

Versus is owned by Comcast, which obviously has a stake in all those CSN broadcasts.

Much as I like Lindsey Soto, with Hughson on one channel and Foley on the other, those of us stuck with Versus are getting the ass end of this deal.

I'm sure I've said it before, but as much as I love Foley, Hughson is the best in the business.

Brouwer back in the lineup tonight.

And Versus is showing a Shake Weight for Men commercials.

Well, gotta have some respect for Salo going tonight. That's man.

I hope he as at least 17 cups on (not sure how that would be possible but I wouldn't feel remotely comfortable out there)
