I don't think Florida has figured out that a last shot out of a timeout doesn't have to mean a really deep three.

Yeah, those were a couple of really pathetic shot attempts.

Yeah, so who's in for a Butler/VCU Final Four game?

I want a piece of that.

I'm just in awe right now. Did that really happen? Butler in the Final Four two straight seasons? Wow. Just wow.

For the love of god, can we fire weber and back a truckload of money to this guy's house?

No way Tim. That's the exact type of thing that Ron Gunether would never do. Brad could leave us someday.

Great day of basketball.

Hopefully tomorrow is the same.

what's the story on Stevens? Is he really a die-hard IU fan like I'm hearing, just waiting for the opportunity to coach there?

I'm not sure about that. He definitely has affection for IU. There was a line in today's IU Star where Stevens was listening to the Butler-Florida game 10 years ago because he was driving to Buffalo to go watch IU play (and that's an 8-8 1/2 hour drive so he's no casual fan).

But I also think he just is mostly unconcerned about money. He never would have quit at Lilly if he was ultra concerned with his financial future. And I do think he wants to go somewhere where he just won't be another guy...where being a Butler guy and playing the right way will really mean something.

So I don't think he'll leave unless it is the right situation. IU certainly might be the ultimate right situation for him but I would guess certain other situations might also interest him.

I'd offer him a dollar more than Cal a year and tell him its because I think he's the best coach in America and should be paid that way. I'd make him say no.

The crazy thing is, may of the "blue blood programs" seem poised to be looking for a new coach in the next few years.

IU--Crean needs results in the next couple of years, right? Some proof the ship is righted.

UNC--Roy is getting old. Hell, if they win it this year, I could see him hanging it up. I definitely don't see him lasting more than 5 years. Even that seems like a stretch.

Duke--K is no spring chicken either. I don't have a feel for how much longer he's got, but I could see him calling it in the next few years, especially if he makes another title run.

UCLA--Natives already seem a little restless out here. Howland needs to start making deeper runs.

UK--Seem pretty settled with Cal, but he's always said he didn't want to coach into his old age.

KU--Self is young, and it's hard to imagine him going anywhere since he turned down his alma mater. But what if the NBA comes calling (or if the Big 12 goes under and KU ends up in the MVC), I could see him jumping.

Crean is in literally zero trouble right now. The way he's recruiting the state, his leash is even longer than it would be (it would still be very long even if he was not having such success on the recruiting trail). He was given a 10-year contract for a reason. Excepting coaches that own a national championship, he may have more job security than any coach in the nation. In fact, the ship actually has been righted (it just isn't going to show up in the win/loss column for a couple years.) He would have to fail with the 2012 recruiting class before he'd feel actual heat from anyone that matters, and that determination can't be made in two years.

As for Stevens, I think he'd only leave for a few jobs. He's more than content at Butler. He would be an amazing fit especially, in my opinion, at two: Duke and Indiana. I'm sure Duke will hire some Krzyzewski disciple, however, which may not be for the best, but alas As for Indiana, I'm not sure that job is in the cards for Stevens. I just don't think the timing is likely to work out. If his success had happened a few years ago, for sure.

Sullinger says he's returning for another year.

Who does he compare to recently, Blair without injury concerns? Id have to think his ceiling isn't too high.

That's who always sprang to mind with me.

Bill Simmons brought up Glen Davis as a comparable player in a podcast last week also.

I'm not saying Sullinger is a future NBA superstar, but he is/was FAR better than Davis was in college. Sullinger put up the same numbers as a freshman as Davis did his last year (junior year) in college. Sullinger is easily a superior collegiate player to Davis.

So the latest rumor is that Mizzou is offering Painter 2.2 to 2.8M per year if he comes over. Are you [expletive] serious? Some of the guys with 'insider' knowledge at the Purdue Rivals board are saying they believe Painter will take the money and run (it's a huge raise).

2.8 seems like on the pretty high end, but my understanding is they can probably afford up to the 2.5 mil range if they feel they need to. I still think Painter's trying to drum up a raise at Purdue, but obviously I'm not going to be too upset if the signs point to him going to Mizzou.
