God, this is like a poor mans Bill Self cry fest. Arkansas is a better job, and he's going home.

Is Arkansas really a better job? The SEC is hot garbage and has been for some time.

It's not, but apparently a 10% raise and his past there was enough to convince him I guess.

The situation sucks, but at least I don't have to worry about Jimmy Sexton's sleaze anymore, and Mike Alden has made very good hires for a decade running. Hopefully the new guy can get some momentum with a senior heavy team next year and then make some headway with his own guys. Keeping Phil Pressey and/or getting Otto Porter would be a nice bonus too.

the more im reading, the more intriguing cuonzo martin sounds. hes young and has good connections, especially in st louis. and he comes from a good coaching tree.

what have the keady-ites done in the tourney except for the one year that weber had deron williams and luther head? even keady himself never made it that far.

you should stay as far away from that tree as possible.

Well, Martin has taken the Missouri State program that was largely floundering and made them decent again. They could do worse than him too. Plus, isn't he from East St. Louis?

The Coach K coaching tree is hot ass. Mike Brey is the only success. Duke is in trouble if Coach K insists that his successor has to be a "Duke Man".

EDIT: And Kevin White listens to him.

i'm calling it now: ill be surprised if mike anderson is still coaching mizzou next season.

Anyone watching Northwestern-Washington State?

Northwestern tied the game with about four seconds left and Washington State comes down and the guy gets fouled with .2 on the clock. But he missed both free throws and they're going to overtime.

that's part of what makes it a better job. he'd have half a chance at finishing 2nd or 3rd in that league.

Arkansas is a far better job. It's arguably the number two job in the SEC. The fans are committed. They've won a national title. I'm not saying its a top level job, but its certainly a step up from Mizzou in the hierarchy of college basketball programs.

Yeah, I was watching. Pretty crazy game. Should NU have gotten possession after that loose ball in the last 20 seconds in OT.

WSU has some ugly dudes on their roster.

They've spent half of the last decade under .500 and have one tournament win in the last 11 years. Their fans, to steal my favorite description, are "Kentucky on a boxed wine budget".

I don't disagree about the fans.....but that opportunity is a great one with all that Wal-mart money. You can do better than MA. I

That may be true, but its still a better job, and you've said nothing to indicate otherwise. If you are going to base the desirability of a job on tournament wins, then Butler and Xavier must both be better jobs than Indiana. Arkansas is a good but not great program in a down period, while Mizzou is still searching for a Final Four and has never won the Big 12.

I would much rather coach Arkansas than Missouri right now. As soon as Texas decides its time they can kill the Big 12. The SEC isn't going anywhere. Missouri doesn't look so great if it ends up in conference USA.

I thought mentioning that the team can barely crack .500 for this millennium in a bad conference would tell the story. Program history matters, but ignoring that Arkansas hasn't been remotely relevant in 10-15 years is weighting that history too much.

No kidding. One tournament win since 1999 and they haven't even been on the radar since 1995. And they've had to compete against all those basketball crazy schools like LSU, Alabama, Auburn and the two Mississippi teams. I'm surprised any coach would want to take that challenge.

Like C-USA would lower themselves to accepting Missouri

Lots of speculation that Watford might be leaving IU. Rumors at this point.

Hollowell announces at 3:30. Most still say should be IU.

Seems like an odd choice to force out.

You are right, but point remains someone is gonna take them. Probably.

I'll admit it would be a bit of a twist of fate for an actual talented player to leave instead of one of our uncoordinated bums (cough Capo cough). I guess we as IU fans should be careful what we wish for. :P

Arkansas has been to six Final Fours or the 10th most all time. Arkansas has a National Title. Arkansas plays in a 20K seat arena. Arkansas is arguably the second most successful program in SEC history. Arkansas is a program where you can win big.

Mizzou has 0 Final Fours, has never won the Big 12, and ranks below Kansas, Texas, OSU and arguably Kansas State in terms of basketball tradition. Arkansas is a step up from Mizzou, and you were just used the way Self used Illinois. Accept it and move on.
