According to the twitterverse, Matt Painter is interested.

I don't buy Painter leaving his Alma mater for Mizzou. No offense Mizzou guys. Paul Lusk did just withdraw his name from the NIU job so maybe... but I don't buy it. I haven't seen anything on the Purdue Rivals boards either - where I'm sure panic would be ensuing.

As an Illinois fan who hates you both, :D I would be shocked if there was any truth to that. Doesn't make much sense at all.

Cuonzo Martin on the other hand is looking to move up... He's done a nice job...

Ugh. Bernie Miklasz pointed out that Mike Alden and Steve Alford are on good terms and he could be a possibility. Maybe it's not fair to remember Alford for the Northwestern St. game, but I remember Alford for the Northwestern St. game.

You guys remember after the '06 season when there were a lot of reports that Alford was going to Missouri?

Missouri could probably do worse. Of course they could do better also.

mizzou would essentially be a lateral move, why would you leave your AM for a lateral move unless kroenke overspends?

what a swell guy mike anderson turned out to be. up until last night and maybe even this morning, people at missouri were convinced he was staying because he was telling them that. he said he was going to sign the extension. gotta love college coaches.

God, this is like a poor mans Bill Self cry fest. Arkansas is a better job, and he's going home.

Is Arkansas really a better job? The SEC is hot garbage and has been for some time.

that's part of what makes it a better job. he'd have half a chance at finishing 2nd or 3rd in that league.

im not upset at all he took the arkansas job. historically, it most likely is a better job. the way he handled this though, is very poor.

You should hire Crean so he can do you worse in three years.

Note: I know Crean won't leave IU. Yet

It's not, but apparently a 10% raise and his past there was enough to convince him I guess.

The situation sucks, but at least I don't have to worry about Jimmy Sexton's sleaze anymore, and Mike Alden has made very good hires for a decade running. Hopefully the new guy can get some momentum with a senior heavy team next year and then make some headway with his own guys. Keeping Phil Pressey and/or getting Otto Porter would be a nice bonus too.

arkansas isn't the step up from missouri that kansas was from illinois, though. for one, they don't have banshees or a secret island full of surrogates.

the more im reading, the more intriguing cuonzo martin sounds. hes young and has good connections, especially in st louis. and he comes from a good coaching tree.

what have the keady-ites done in the tourney except for the one year that weber had deron williams and luther head? even keady himself never made it that far.

you should stay as far away from that tree as possible.

well who should mizzou go after? shaka smart is still largely unproven. anthony grant may not be bad, but who knows how soon hell be leaving to go to florida. brad stevens is a pipe dream. the rest are largely meh.

you could take your chances with chris collins if you want to go to that well again.

if theres a tree thats worse than purdue, its dukes. and we already had an embarrassing flameout from that. no thank you.

edit: i do not think purdue's coaching tree is bad at all. dukes, however, is [expletive].
