Who cares, a one seed for Kansas doesn't mean that much.

why do you say that?

Maybe he was referring to last year, where they lost in the 2nd round as a 1 seed. Go MVC schools.

I find it hard to believe an Illinois fan would be making fun of KU's tourney success.

No, I just meant what does it really matter? A 1 or a 2 means something more to a small school that hasn't accomplished it much. KU is good every single year. I don't think it really should mean that much to them. I could be wrong, but I'd rather be close to home and the 2 then shipped out west and be a 1.

Sooner or later, IU fans are going to turn on Crean.

Why?

I'd like more wins as much as anyone right now, but I'm willing to give the guy some time. Like I said earlier, this team needs to start showing more progress next year. Hopefully another year of experience, health (hopefully), and adding a good post player will do that.

You can't ask for much more in what is lined up for 2012 and beyond. If IU is still playing this in two years I'll be concerned. I think the worst is behind them at this point.

So if he misses the tournament next year he's not in any danger?

And buy out the last 6 years of his contract? Indiana signed Crean to a ridiculous extension for no reason, even if he didn't have the great recruiting classes lined up, he wouldn't be in danger.

i assumed that he meant ku is good enough to win the tourney from any top 3 seed in any given year, but they are not above pooping on the mountaintop and getting beaten by UNI, bucknell, or bradley.

Only 4 Big Ten teams projected to have winning conference records by Pomeroy. I really doubt that will be the case, but it'd certainly be interesting to see how the tourney bids broke down if that were the case.

Whoa, did they at least get a reduced rate on the buyout?

From what I've seen, if IU were to fire Crean in the next 2-3 years the buyout would be 3 million. It goes down as the years go on.

Well that's not bad at all then. Iowa had to pay Lickliter $2.4M to buy him out of the last 4 years.

I wasn't trying to say he deserves to be fired next year or that it was likely, was just wondering how patient they would be if it's just 1 NIT to show for 4 years even with the situation he inherited.

Time for Mizzou's annual beatdown in Lawrence. I'm expecting something around 87-64 Jayhawks. It will not be pretty.

Btw snood, what's the talk about who's cingular

Back next year (Morris twins, Selby)?

I think Mizzou has a shot tonight because we're sloppy with the ball. Fortunately, Mizzou has struggled on the road, which might equalize things.

Not sure what you mean by "who's cingular." did you mean to type "coming"? Methinks you were multitasking when you wrote that.

As for who's coming back...no idea. I think Selby will be gone assuming he's projected in the 1st round. Marcus and Markieff are tougher to figure. I think if both are slated as first rounders, they're both gone. If just Marcus is, there's a chance he stays to play one more year with his brother.

The other guy who might leave if the draft shakes out is Thomas Robinson. A team would have to be enamored with his potential since he only plays 15 mins a game, but he's got the tools. And with essentially his entire family passing away this year, he might decide to chase the money in an effort to provide for his little sister.

In the end, I think Selby and the twins go and TRob stays, but maybe I have an inflated sense of Markieff's draftability.

Yeah I was typing on my phone. Stupid iPhone.

And yeah, I'd be pretty surprised if this game was close. I expect a blowout in Lawrence and a close game in Columbia.

I was perfectly happy to accept our thrashing tonight, and then I saw them rip Colorado in person and Selby got hurt, so now I stupidly have some hope. I turned down a ticket to the game, so at least if they get blown out I made the right decision.

i dont like the upsets, but i'd rather be in the position to be upset than be on the outside looking in.

i think you've inferred that we've slighted your program, which we haven't. this season sucks enough for the illini, and believe me, i know that they have failed miserably and i'll get to watch my team in the NIT or worse again this post-season. no need to kick us while we're down.

perhaps a better way to have stated it would have been this:

Since 2002, we've had three embarrassing tourney losses. (UNI, Bucknell, Bradley). We've also had three Final Fours, two championship games, and one title.

Both of those things are the product of high seeding, so those miserable losses are worth it.

I suppose that's just a long-winded way of restating what you already said, so maybe I'll shut up.

No, try it again Erik

im actually excited for reed and morningstar to graduate. seems those two always kill mizzou.

It's really sad that two dopey white kids who will be riding tractors this time next season are such killers.
