Indiana really needs Maurice Creek to be himself again. It's obvious they're running the offense (even the transition offense) to get him open looks and he's just not making them this year. It will continue to kill them in games where they need to make shots to make up for the lack of size.

Great game between Indiana and Kentucky. UK leads by two with 7:35 remaining in the second half.
Correction: It WAS a great game until I jinxed it by saying it was a great game.

i think you would have seen creek really flash his skills if indiana would have been losing by 20+ for most of the game, it really would have been his time to shine!

Creek has lost 5 games in his Indiana career by 10 points or more and I'm pretty sure that in each of those games he played at least as well if not better when the game was close. Just thought I would discount that before somebody actually believed you and repeated it!

he also plays really well against teams named north carolina central but not always.

18, 19, 31, 15, 5 in the games lost by 10 or more points. and the last one wasn't really indicative of the score, it was a close game. in thos other games, it was obviously CREEK-TIME!

Creek scored 14 of his 18 against Mississippi in the first 21 minutes. The last bucket cut Mississippi's lead to 7.

Creek had 12 of his 19 against Maryland in the first 30 minutes in a game that was close (Indiana had the lead several times in the second half all the way until 8-9 minutes to go).

Creek had 20 of his 31 against Kentucky in the first 21 minutes. In fact, he was singlehandedly keeping Indiana in the game as that game was tied at that point.

Against BC, Creek had 11 of his 15 in the first 31 minutes (the game was tight and got as close as 2 points a couple of minutes later).

And as you mentioned today Creek had 5 points in another game that was blown out late.

It's ridiculous to say that Creek only shows up after games are decided. He was a big factor in the fact that IU managed to hang around against teams like Kentucky and Maryland for so long and keep the Ole Miss game as close as it was.

The Langford commitment has me geeked out. Do we go after Steve Taylor out of Simeon now for 2012? Either way, I think our best chance for our next commitment is Mr. Hamilton in 2013. Or at least I hope he'll pull the trigger soon.

can anyone explain to me what the significance of pomeroy's ORtg separating go to guys from major contributors from significant contributors? are they on different rating scales?

dmac is ranked 116 (125.1) in the 24%-28% of possessions used category while jordan taylor is ranked 112 (125.3) in the significant contributors category 20%-24% of possessions used. does that mean jordan taylor is ranked ahead of dmac or are they being judged on different scaled because of the % of possessions used?

It means Taylor is rated a hair better, he doesn't have different sets of rankings for each category.

we just lose focus so easily.

We just can't won't finish teams.

i don't know about that. i think we get up on bad teams and start coasting, we have no problem finishing good teams or teams in general. we just make thinsg look closer than they should be.

I think losing focus and coasting when up is tantamount to just not finishing teams off. In this game, the Illini have been able to score nearly at will in the paint (which is nice), but after getting up, they just seemed to abandon that in favor of passing the ball around the perimeter.

It'd be nice to see us step on the other team's throat when they stick it out.

what i mean is just losing interest in the game, because they aren't going to lose, they just run around getting cute and getting their lead cut. they'll finish this team, they'll win by double digits, but it won't be as close as he game would indicate.

i thought they finished gonzage and unc pretty well.

Regardless of how you characterize it, I don't think it's acceptable. Just because you get away with something doesn't mean it's all right.

I agree the Illini finished off the Zags and Heels well, but only maintaining focus against better opponents isn't something I think will serve them well in the long term. It's probably just because we're young, but after league play starts, the odds of a team getting off the deck and biting us in the ass increases.

Part of the problem today is they went zone and that slowed the offense down a ton. It looked like the only guy who knew how to properly flash in the lane was Richmond. Everybody else, including the Mikes were just floating and not making decisive cuts so the guards could get them the ball.

There's giving up 50 in the second half, too.

Well I read the other team shot over 50 from the field, over 50 from 3, and over 80 at the line and put up 76. The last few years we lose this game. We have enough talent now to win in spite of that. But, yeah the defense and effort need to get better against the cupcakes.

Plus the BTN had Zook on and immediately NCU went on a 12-0 run. That guy is bad luck.

It's a minor thing, but it's just so BTN, that they decided to show a split screen of the actual game and Ron Zook talking. There's really no need for Zook to be in there during the game in the first place, but why do you need to show him talking?
