I'm with imb.... the reason for Bradley acting like he does is probably very sad.

I just feel bad for him. He doesn't seem like a bad person to me. He just has severe mental issues that likely stem from things out of his control.

right, because I'm not responsible for my actions if I had a traumatic childhood.

Don't know about others, I'm thinking it's not daddy issues but more likely a chemical imbalance

Pretty sure it's both

I watched that game, mostly because I like watching James Shields pitch, but I believe 2 of Bradley's strike outs ended innings. One was with 2 runners on and the other one was with the bases loaded. The called third strike with the bases loaded was right down broadway, even though it was a change up.

Hate to say it, but it's probably a good thing he didn't stick around to talk to reporters after that. Probably would have made things even worse.

If he left the stadium before the game ended the Mariners need to suspend him for at least a few games and send him an early message that they won't tolerate his past antics (unless he had permission to leave).

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Mariners cut him at the end of the season and just pay the remainder of his contract.

But I'm sure there will be another team that feels they can fix him and will take him on.

I haven't checked statistically, but maybe he just doesn't do well when he expects, or the team expects, he's going to be this big producer for them.

I know the Cubs were certainly expecting big things from him.

Texas? Perhaps the expectations were much lower.

Just a random thought.

I think the bases loaded strikeout was with 1 out, Griffey ended up striking out after him also.

He did fine with San Diego when he was traded for their stretch run. These are probably the lowest expectations he's had besides Texas and his early years in the league.

Maybe he's just gotten old quickly. Maybe his issues have finally spilled over into his actual production. Maybe he's just slumping.

Yeah but when he realized that he was doing so well, he purposely tore his ACL or whatever he did and missed the rest of the season.

You are correct, and I'm not sure how I forgot about Griffey's ugly at bat. Griffey's strike out was way more pathetic than Bradley's. 3 straight pitches, with the last one being in the dirt and Griffey swinging and missing by a mile on all 3.

As bad as Griffey and Bradley's at bats were, that was nothing in comparison to the next inning, when 3 Seattle hitters saw a total of 4 pitches that inning. The first hitter saw 2 and then the next two made outs on the first pitch they saw. Seattle should have just sent the whole team home after the 6th inning.

I watched a bit of that game and saw Jack Wilson's 2nd error of the ballgame -- a blatant one -- which drew a chorus of boos.

There's definitely more going on there than just Bradley.

I think the final tally was 4 errors, 1 passed ball and 1 wild pitch. Although I really only watched that game when Tampa was on the mound. I watched Deadliest Catch when Seattle was on the field. I didn't even know Bradley left the game.

Wow, the Mariners are in bad, bad shape if this part of the article is actually true:

Bradley has been putting enormous pressure on himself since the season began. He's been the team's best hitter for the past 10 days or so

Bradley's last 7 days:

.235 .278 .294 .572

The last 14 days:

.286 .355 .393 .748

I checked out their BR page earlier. Something like a team 77 OPS+

That response is the polar opposite of what Chicago sportswriters would have written. I remember another player in this city who walked out during a game and he became a pariah.

It helped that the team owner was releasing video to demonize him along the way. That whole situation still pisses me off even though we did get Dave Crouthers out of it.

I think he needs a sport that he doesn't need to deal with other humans
VAIL -- (AP) City and state officials expressed shock today at comments made by Milton Bradley alleging that Vail Ski Resort as well as the entire State of Colorado are bigoted toward African-Americans. Sources say Bradley's comments stem from a 10:00AM wipe out on the Vail bunny hill...

True enough. And don't forget we got our 2B out of it!

They only traded for David Carouthers soul. They weren't impressed enough with his physical appearance to want him entirely.
