Of course the unintended comedy is that the folks here that think they do know everything about baseball and everyone else is an idiot and/or uninformed, are themselves uninformed on the most critical elements of the situation.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: unless you were in the Cubs clubhouse day in and day out last year, then you have no clue what was really going on, and therefore you have no business spouting about what Hendry should or should not have done with Bradley.

I'm replying to a direct quote from your embedded post. How can you possibly deny saying it?

(red goes with red, blue goes with blue in case you need the assistance of color coding to interpret)

Red: check the context. The quote I was responding to from SSR: "Most people don't know anything about baseball. My friends are all idiots when it comes to this stuff." That's called hyperbole, so I responded in kind.

Blue: I've addressed. Bradley situation is unique inasmuch as the reason for the trade is behind-the-scenes stuff. Nowhere have I suggested that a blanket policy of not critiquing moves is appropriate.

Red: so you admit you were just being pompous. fine

Blue: Yes, you've sorta addressed it. But you're still treating it as an absolute, which is ridiculous and is what everyone is calling you on.

LOL you certainly have a fascinating view of the world Tim. By your logic, about 98% of this board is pompous. I guess I fit right in.

As for the topic at hand (Bradley), ridiculous would be to neglect to treat the situation as a special case, which is all I'm suggesting.

I'm willing to bet that if we crowdsourced a ranking of "pompousness" here on the board, that you'd be pretty happy with your ranking!

I could never have done it without such a committed and diligent stalker as you, Tim.

So was the comment on the first page the only thing that Bradley has said about the Cubs and or Chicago since he has left?

I vaguely remember some comments when he first arrived in Seattle, and then this. Not a heck of a lot.

I thought those were more along the lines of "that's last year, I'm not talking about Chicago anymore." But I could be mistaken.

Wouldn't be a big surprise to find that Bradley said that, and then ultimately couldn't keep his trap shut about it.

I love how he says I only got hate mail in three cities. So what you are saying is you have been shipped off by nearly a 1/3 of the teams in the league and you only managed to piss of those teams fanbases so much to get hate mail less than half the time. Way to go dude.

Then there is the comment about going to dinner around the All-Star break and having to hear a guy talk about how much you and Sori are sucking. Gee maybe the guy was saying that because you and Sori were in fact sucking.

Yes, it's perfectly reasonable to have to listen to people publicly mock you and say that you should "go back to the ghetto" because you're not playing well.

Dammit, now I'm defending this jerk again.

Just shut it, Milton. You should be focused on saving your career, not the Cubs. If he bombs with Seattle it's probably the end for him. No one wants a malcontent who can't play.

That interview reminded me of an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm with Seinfeld.

"I never received hate mail in any other city"..........having said that, "I did receive hate mail in two other cities."

Also, the whole garbage about the envelopes not being postmarked and him believing that the Cubs organization planted hate mail at his locker was also ridiculous. If that were the case, I'm sure they would have gotten to the bottom of it. You don't invest $30MM into a guy and then try to make it as uncomfortable as possible for him.

This dude is several beers short of a six pack. Luckily for him, he is a pretty good baseball player. If it weren't for athletics, he'd most likely be unemployed because no real world job would put up with his [expletive]. Congrats to him for putting one over on Hendry and getting a crapton of money from the Cubs. Now take your issues to Seattle and shut the [expletive] up about Chicago and the Cubs already.

In his latest salvo aimed at the Cubs, Milton Bradley claims he wanted manager Lou Piniella to apologize to him in front of his teammates after Piniella called him a "piece of (expletive)" during a confrontation last June.

Piniella declined, according to Bradley.

"The next day, he called me into his office and wanted to apologize," Bradley told ESPN. "I felt you put me on blast, called me out in front of everybody, you're going to apologize in front of everybody.

"He didn't choose to go that route, but I accepted his apology nonetheless, because as a Christian that's what you do. I don't have time to hold grudges against people."

i knew bradley was a headcase before he came to the cubs, but holy [expletive].

He's always been a head case, from day 1.

And this idea that he has suddenly started floating that somehow the Cubs were a problem but everywhere else was smooth sailing is so laughable I've got to believe Milton needs serious counseling.

The man's mind is broken. We took a huge risk signing him at all, and it certainly didn't work out.

I don't care if he can play baseball anymore. He can't *survive*, because nobody wants to be anywhere near him once they figure out who he is. Please no more Miltons.

After reading that, I 100% believe that the racist part of it is greatly exaggerated. The reason is the last line of that ESPN article. If you didn't boo me, I don't have a problem with you (and the implication in that quote is that if you booed me and you are not black, you are racist). Booing happens to all players. To me it sounds like the booing is what he is most upset with. There were probably a handful of occasions where he received hate mail, but that is to be expected when playing in any major market. Obviously with a fanbase like Oakland or Texas that is smaller, you will see less hate mail in general. I know that recently the players who have drawn the ire of the fans at Wrigley have happened to be black, but the favourite players have also been from minorities as well. I would also have to say that Kevin Gregg received his fair share of booing (I guess that Bradley would say that that is a result of a performance).

I cannot say for sure that it isn't true, but I also question the going out for dinner story. I am not surprised that the person was bad mouthing both players, but as a professional athlete this again must be expected. Even Mantle, Mays, and Aaron had bad games that could be critiqued. The part about going back to the ghetto almost sounds like a throw in line. I know that I have made these kinds of foolish, off the cuff, exaggeration remarks when I am upset and losing an argument to make my side of the story sound stronger and clearly Milton Bradley is an angry person.

Then is the matter of the child being called a derogatory name. They are kids, this is what happens. I don't know what the derogatory name was, but for all we know, the name was "jerk". And lets get serious here, who do you think the parents of the offending child are? Being in school at age 3 and the same one as Milton Bradley's daughter means that you have a fairly large income and are sending your child to a good school. I know that ingrates are everywhere, but I find this story absurd as well.

I just can't believe how this idiot continues to come out with this garbage.

I hope he continues to run his mouth about Chicago all season and Z put's one between his ears when we play them in Seattle. The thing is last year I liked Bradley and didn't really have a problem with him. But this [expletive] is just getting old.

Like him or hate him, racist hate mail is completely unacceptable.

I don't even believe what he says. Show me the proof.

I'm glad you said this. I am sick of the multitude of posters on here condoning racist hate mail. Way to speak up for the minorities. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would be proud of your willingness to stand tall against the oppression of the black man despite overwhelming opposition. PRAISE ALLAH!
