Seeing this thread makes me sad that I don't get to see FSU games regularly while living up north. This used to be the spring sport of choice when I lived down there and knew many of the players personally. Now, I've been reduced to watching their games come tourney time.

Drew Pomeranz struck out 15 and walked none in seven innings tonight for the Rebs.

Also heard that Kentucky's top pitcher James Paxton is no longer with the team. I'm not really sure what the situation was, but he was a first round pick last year for the Blue Jays.

I was curious when I read this post since my PhD is from UK, so I did some checking. Apparently the NCAA had some questions about a possible relationship with Scott Boras. The Kentucky AD ordered him to submit to an interview with NCAA investigators or else he wouldn't be allowed to remain on the team. He sued UK. Last week he lost in court and decided to leave the team rather than being interviewed. Apparently he wasn't even told what rule he was being accused of violating.

Taylor Jungmann struckout 17 of the 29 batters he faced (7.1 innings) vs Iowa on Friday. Impressive even against Iowa. Wonder where he ranks in terms of 2011 draft prospects.

On February 15, BA had him as the #3 college player in his class behind Anthony Rendon and Gerrit Cole. He sounds like a potential Top 10 pick.

Hell of a weekend rotation for the 13-0 Bruins:

Gerrit Cole - 25.2 IP, 41 K, 4 BB, 2.10 ERA

Trevor Bauer - 22.2 IP, 38 K, 6 BB, 2.38 ERA

Rob Rasumussen - 19.1 IP, 30 K, 14 BB, 2.79 ERA

Best rotation in college baseball? Only Texas has an argument.

UCD baseball is 9-7 already after going 13-42 last year and I think they've got an outside shot at the postseason, though next year is far more likely as their rotation is made up of four sophomores.

KU took 2/3 from #1 (and unbeaten) LSU. I think the tigers were without a couple of key players, though. Still, pretty cool.

Very much looking forward to the Hogs/LSU match up this weekend.

By the numbers:

Hogs take game 1 6-3. If they can split the final two, they should move up in the rankings.

guess I'll blow the dust off this thread and shoo away the tumbleweeds.

Drew Pomeranz for Ole Miss has been pitching like a madman this season. His season stats so far:

4-0, 1.23 ERA, 36.2 IP, 23 hits, 5 ER, 11 BB, 58 K

Last Friday against (then No.2 Florida) he went 7.1 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 2 walks, and 9 K's.

UCLA lost. :(

22-1.

UCD lost to Cal State Fullerton yesterday and today. Both scores were pretty close to UCLA's record.

Ball State player Kolbrin Vitek made Baseball America's Mid-Season All-American team. I'm curious to see where he goes and for what position. He has phenomenal hitter with very good power but is also a very good pitcher with good speed.

Pomeranz' line against Georgia tonight: 8 IP, 1 ER, 4 hits, 15 K's, 2 BB

dude is good

Pomeranz got BA's Midseason top pitcher honor. Arizona State's Zack MacPhee is their hitter, Matt Purke (unsigned first rounder from last year) the top freshman, Oregon the biggest leap forward and Georgia the biggest disappointment.

UCLA beat Oregon State last night 3-1 in a 16-inning, 6.5 hour game.

Texas is now up to 19 straight wins and 16 in the Big 12. A win today will give them them the longest Big 12 winning streak ever.

Oh, and Pomeranz has continued to dominate. Friday night against Mississippi State he went 6.1 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 11 K's and one walk. 9 of those 11 K's came in a row.

I've seen him listed as high as the 2nd pick overall. Not sure how accurate that is though.

It's not quite a consensus, but Pomeranz can make a strong case for it right now, especially since it seems he'd be willing to sign for slot.
