Zaidman is saying that from what he's hearing, they're not trying to move Olsen, and Bernstein is insisting that they are.
I think it's nearly a certainty that Olsen is gone. There's no way the Bears would keep Manumaleuna, Clark, and Olsen. When Clark wasn't released despite the roster bonus that spelled the end for Olsen.

If that is indeed the case, it sucks how old we will have made the position in just a couple moves, especially since Kellen Davis likely doesn't have a future since he wasn't that good to begin with and also is a receiving type of TE.

I'm not disputing that; I just think the handwriting's on the wall. I really don't think the Bears would have kept Clark and paid him the roster bonus if they were also planning to keep Olson. The one possible exception I can think of is if they plan to use Olson more as a wide receiver, much like the Colts do with Dallas Clark. Ultimately, if they do trade him, I think it would be hard to really judge the trade until we see who the Bears pick with the draft pick they get in return. If they can get a good offensive lineman the trade may be very good.

Well, I'm going to wait for Olsen to actually be traded before declaring him gone. It does look like the writing is on the wall.

Couldn't the Bears have traded their picks for Boldin? Then trade Olsen for a fourth rounder to replace at least one of them?

Olsen is just another one one Angelo's failed first round draft picks. If Forte doesn't pan out, Angelo should trade that pick every single year. The problem is that you HAVE to hit on your first rounders. Trading them might not be a bad idea, but I doubt Jerry will really ever do this. When you hit on your first rounders, you look like the Colts. When you don't, you look like the Bears.

So this is currently the chart of projected starters I think:

                     McKie Taylor
                            Cutler
Hester Shaffer-Garza-Kreutz-Beekman-Williams Bennett

                   Peppers-Harris-Adams-Brown
Tillman Tinoisamoa-Urlacher-Briggs Bowman
                       Afalava-Manning

First: Fourth rd pick for Olsen? What's next, Lance Briggs for a conditional 7th rd pick?

Second: How can you call a player who has statistically improved each year in the league (39-391-2 to 6-612-8) a failed first round pick? I know stats don't show it all, but they dont lie either They are flaws in his game, but he still is improving as a player. So no, I don't consider Olsen a "failed first round" pick, and thus shouldn't be considered as on.

Taylor starting over Forte? We'll see. I hope Hester is going to be the third or fourth receiver with Aromashodu becoming the starting wide out. Hester is most valuable returning every punt and kick and giving this team field position.

No one is giving the Bears a second rounder. Third rounder - maybe - but they are not getting anything better. The Bears are stuck with a guy they don't need who wants out. You don't get what you should get in that position. Lance Briggs is a perennial Pro Bowler, Olsen isn't even close.

Olsen is a failed first rounder because he can't block, can't shed blocks well, is undersized, doesn't have strong hands, has the fewest yards after the catch of any regular TE in the league last year, and hasn't shown the speed to break away from safeties that we thought he would. He is improving, but not fast enough. In Martz's scheme, he is worthless because Martz wants his TEs to first be able to block so that the wide outs can go deep. Yes Greg is improving, but he never showed first round talent.

Brown is moving to the left side, with Peppers playing on the right side.

I expect Alex Brown to get double digits in sacks this year. This move makes everyone so much better. If Tommie is playing like the Tommie of old, the Bears won't have to blitz and the Cover-2 will work just like it is designed. I could see this team returning to a top-5 defense with the acquisition of a decent safety.

Without digging, we have added Peppers, Manumaleuna and Taylor so far?

I'm pretty sure Forte will still be the starter and I think Aromashodu has earned a starting spot over Bennett. Omiyale and Beekman could still go either way (this organization is high on Omiyale for some reason) and hopefully Manning gets benched due to signing a FA like Atogwe or Clark. You also forgot TEs, which is right now probably the hardest position to project. I'll say Manumaleuna, Dez Clark, and Davis. All I ask is that we get something valuable in return for Olsen.

You're missing a TE. You have a 10-man offense.

The Mike Martz offense employs only 10 players?

It's Cutler's fault. The TE walked off the field in disgust because Cutler threw too many interceptions.

Actually he switched to the other team's defense so he could make one of the interceptions. :D

Pleased with today. But, I wonder if maybe signing either Kampman or VandenBosch AND one of Rolle or Robinson would have been better for us than getting Peppers? If the Bears go out and get either Sharper or Clark though, it makes it a moot question anyway......

I'm a big fan of the Taylor signing, by the way. I think he'll be more than a 3rd down guy for us and hopefully he'll push Forte some as well, making him better than he was last year at least. I'm not worried about his age, due to the lack of mileage on him.

There's not a ton out there as far as O-Line help goes, but hopefully something can be done there. If we do that and get Clark or Sharper, I'll be thrilled with it.

That should be one of the better front 7s in the league if we can stay healthy.

Peppers, and Lovie/Angelo were asked that question at the press conference today and it did not get answered. Peppers says he feels comfortable at both sides.
