I'm hoping that the lack of rumors about PSU and bowl bids means they're still in consideration for a BCS at-large (though I guess any top 12 BCS team fits that category)

I think it's assume whichever of Iowa/PSU doesn't get a BCS gets the CapOne.

makes sense. CapOne gets, what, a 4th place SEC team this year? (with Bama/Florida in the BCS and LSU in the Cotton)?

Yeah, there's nothing really to talk about in regards to Iowa and Penn State right now. Even if the BCS was in a position to release one or the other to other bowl committees right now, they wouldn't. Assuming the Big Ten gets two BCS spots, the one that doesn't get in is a virtual lock for the Capital One bowl. Since most assume there will be two spots for the Big Ten, there hasn't been any real reason to talk about which team the Capital One bowl would take if only Ohio State makes it.

Ole Miss is going to the Cotton vs Oklahoma State. LSU will probably end up in the CapOne.

FY: Carlos Dunlap of Florida was arrested this morning (around 3ish) for DUI. Don't know how it will impact the game

Jon makes a rare post and people ignore it. :)

I'm going to call it now.

Alabama beats Florida. Tim cries blood and is whisked by God straight to heaven, but not before he manages to circumcise two more Filipino boys.

As good as Jimmy Clausen is, he will leave ND without a winning regular season. Which can be blamed entirely on Jon Tenuta, the single worst assistant Notre Dame has had in my conscious life.

you've been alive 1 year? there were assistants on last year's team that were much worse. breath more, type less.

Well, that wouldn't make much sense at all.

Auburn to the Outback is official.

And it still doesn't make sense. Oh well, guess that means Chick-Fil-A for Tennessee.

The Outback Bowl traditionally takes an SEC East team, so I'm not sure why they passed over Tennesee, but I'm pleased....I think Auburn may be able to hold their own against Wiscy if they is who they end up playing.

The only speculation I saw is that Auburn may have guaranteed higher ticket sales.

There's some interesting stuff happening in the ACC. Because Bowden is retiring, FSU will likely now go to a higher bowl game, possibly Gator or Champs.

Yeah, they usually take an East team and Tennessee has the Monte ties, which might bring in more local fans into the stadium. I don't know which of UT or Auburn travels better, but I can't imagine it's that big a difference.

Oh well, congrats to your Tigers.

i highly doubt that tampa bay locals would go to the outback bowl to see their former defensive coordinator sit in the booth and defensive coordinate for a college football team.

What I want to see is a PSU-FSU bowl game, loser has to retire after the game. Like one of those old Wrestlemanias.

8 MSU players suspended for role in fight a few weeks back

Eight members of the MSU football team were suspended by head coach Mark Dantonio on Monday following the ongoing results of an investigation by MSU police into a Nov. 22 altercation at Rather Hall.

It is unclear how long their suspension will last.

Police have identified 10 suspects from the incident and are looking into leads relating to five additional people, a release from the university stated. Police identified the suspects by talking with witnesses and reviewing video tape from Rather Hall. The State News filed a Freedom of Information Request on Monday seeking the video footage.

According to the release: “Pending completion of the police investigation, eight members of the MSU football team identified Monday as being present at the Rather Hall incident were immediately suspended from all daily team-related activities by Coach Mark Dantonio. B.J. Cunningham, Mark Dell, Ashton Leggett, Chris L. Rucker, Fred Smith, Brynden Trawick, Ishmyl Johnson and Jamiihr Williams have been suspended for violation of team rules.”

MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said she was unsure what charges could be filed against the suspects. The case could be forwarded to the the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office early next week, the release stated.

Three of the players — Cunningham, Dell and Rucker — are starters on the football team.

Tennessee is likely going to face Virginia Tech in the CFA Bowl, according to nearly every "source" I have read. No, it isn't a New Year's Day Bowl, but I would SO MUCH rather UT play in the CFA than the Outback. The only- and I mean ONLY- drawback I can think of is that Kiffin certainly wanted to play in South Florida in order to get more recruits around his team. Other than that, what really is the allure of the Outback?

The game kicks off at 11 am EST... or 8 am on the West Coast. CFA is an evening kickoff, and is the premiere Bowl on that day, and follows the UT/Memphis hoops game. That could mean nearly 6 straight hours of Tennessee sports on ESPN. That's great, as well. Plus (and I know that this will not be a popular sentiment here, but I really don't mean any disrespect), the opponent will be much better, and the matchup will be much more attractive nationally that having to face either Wisconsin or (yuck) Northwestern. Just nothing at all attractive about playing either of those teams, in my humble opinion. Virginia Tech I can get excited about... the other two.... meh.

no, not really. I don't give a [expletive] about the wins record, and neither does Paterno. I also don't want to play a shitty 6-6 FSU team. Talk about a waste of time

NZAA? i've never heard an alabama fan use that term, certainly no alabama fans on this board.

I don't know if this is sarcasm, but:

difference is the NZAA's is always looking to punish Bama at any chance

yeah, redflash is pretty much the perfect example of the "bammers" to which VolCub and dew frequently refer.
