It's possible that the top 10 teams would be the 10 BCS teams. There's no way that's ever happened.

Since they've only had 10 BCS teams for what, 3 years now, no, never happened.

Well yeah, but the top I'm quite certain the top 8 never were in it together either.

True, but if there were only 8 spots this year it wouldn't be the top 8 either.

EDIT: BCS History:

1998-99: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 15 (the year #3 Kansas State got screwed)

1999-2000: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 22 (the year the Pac-10 sucked, and #6 Kansas State got screwed again)

2000-01: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 11, 17 (Virginia Tech #5, Notre Dame #11, ND loses 41-9 to Oregon State)

2001-02: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 13 (Nebraska loses Big 12 championship and finishes #2, gets blown out in NC game, Colorado wins Big 12 and finishes #3, gets blown out in Fiesta bowl anyway)

2002-03: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14 (the only year everything went right with BCS selection, but Kansas State still demands to feel screwed at #8)

2003-04: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10 (#1 Oklahoma loses Big 12 championship to #10 Kansas State, who finally figures out how to make a BCS bowl)

2004-05: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 13, 21 (the year the Big East really sucked)

2005-06: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 11, 22 (the year the ACC really sucked)

2006-07: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14 (the year #2 Florida passed #3 Michigan 3 weeks after Michigan finished their season at #2; also Notre Dame unceremoniously blown out in BCS at-large game)

2007-08: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13 (the year Missouri went from #1 to out of the BCS in one week, thanks to BCS at-large bids snapped up by #8 Kansas and #13 Illinois, probably their two biggest rivals)

2008-09: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 19 (the other year the ACC sucked)

And two teams that Mizzou beat during the year. I got over that a long time ago, but it still has a bitter taste in my mouth when people bring it up, especially ku fans.

I heard someone suggest that since Bowden is retiring, they should have FSU play PSU in a bowl game. That would anger me to the point of murder, I think

apparently Golden Tate has made it known to some that he's going pro.

He should go. I don't think we will see many prjected 1st round players stay, especially top 15 picks. If Clausen leaves he has no reason to stay at all.

Posted
Clausen will go too. I don't begrudge either of them. Ignore all the salary cap stuff, they put up the best numbers at their respective positions this year and their HC just got fired. Unless Bob Stoops gets hired and does an insane job of selling them on his ability to coach them to a title next year, there's no chance they come back.

As good as Jimmy Clausen is, he will leave ND without a winning regular season. Which can be blamed entirely on Jon Tenuta, the single worst assistant Notre Dame has had in my conscious life.

Really? I don't watch ND more than 3 times a year and am not that familiar with their defensive personnel. But the guy was an extremely successful DC whom Notre Dame fans were thrilled to hire.

He took a reasonably talented defense and made them look absolutely stupid, week in and week out. Kyle McCarthy, Manti Te'o, Raeshon McNeil, Robert Blanton, Ethan Johnson, Kapron Lewis-Moore...these aren't world-beating names, but they sure as hell aren't members of a group that should rank in the bottom third of FBS defenses and manage to lose 4 different games in which ND scores 27 points or more.

And yes, I was thrilled to get him too. Mea culpa.

It has taken me living in Alabama for 3 years to cause me to even consider uttering the following phrase, but the locals make it somewhat easy...

Go Gators! (Okay, now I'm going to take a shower.)

Or you could stay neutral and not give a damn about the SEC Champsionship. But hey you can't expect a Volunteer fan to do something smart, except dew.

Do what I do when Tennessee is playing for SEC Championship or a Bowl game......................just ignore them.

Like I said, Bammers make it all too easy to cheer against them. Normally would hope for a 0-0 tie, but the people who live around here and follow the Repeat Serial Violators make me wanna dress in blue and orange and run up and down the street doing the gator chomp.

I won't, but you get the point. Without fans, I dislike Bama. Because of fans, I hate them. The only fans in America that rival UK Basketball fans. It's not personal RF, just my experience, and my opinion.

Contrary to popular belief not all Bama fans are as bad as you make us. Every fanbase have those that embarrassed their favorite team but that doesn't mean every Bama fan is an idiot and nutcase. Cause I can definately point to certain Tennessee fans I know (here in Bama land) that are some of the MOST ignorant and idiotic I've ever met.

Trust me, Florida fans makes it easier to hate (because of their fanaticism of the QB whose name shall never be mentioned again) then Bama simply because of Spurrier. But hey if you want to hate Bama fine, because I rather be hated which means Bama is recognizable, over being loved and unheard, ie like TCU or Cincinnati. So as long as the hate is legitimate because Bama is constantly in the top 5 and battling for a national championship then I can live with the anti-Bama crowd. Besides where was this hate when Bama was down between 2000-2007?

Yankees and Phillies fans are to me what Bama is to you. I don't hate Tennessee, but there are certain coaches and fans that make it hard not to hate Tennessee. Besides if you want to talk good ole fashion football with good Bama fans go over to Tidefans. That site has several Tenn fans already on it and we talk good football talk without it getting itno it. I invite you to put aside your biased for Bama for a few minutes and check it out. Warning it is a bit Bama biased, but non Bama fans (trolls excluded) are not talked down to and is treated with respect. You don't have to sign up just go to the site a read a few threads. It may not change your perception of Bama fans but at least you would know there are those who are not stupid, ignorant and redneck.

Not trying to be mean to any Bama fans in here, but does anyone NOT think Florida is gonna spank Bama?

Spank? No. I think it will be a decent game. Florida will be limited with possessions by the Bama run game (unless UF puts 8 or 9 in the box and dares McElroy to beat you, thought that is a gamble with Julio Jones at WR...), so I fully expect it to be similar to last year, thought maybe a little lower scoring. 23-16.

RF, it's like this...

I've heard Bammers whine and blame the NCAA for all of their troubles, including calling them the NZAA, all because Bama cannot keep their nose clean. Most Bammers defend being called Repeat Serial Violators by claiming the NCAA is out to get them and they are being unfairly targeted, or they issue subpoenas to coaches who turn them in for cheating, or they deflect and point out all the other cheating that is *obviously* occurring, though not being punished. It's like... seriously, your team cheated. Deal with it and stop making pathetic excuses. That's issue #1.

#2 is the sheer arrogance that I hear every single day here. No opponent will ever keep it within 4 TD's, and when they do, it's simply because Bama played poorly- never that the opponent played well. The chest pounding over Bammers first win to break the 6 year losing streak to Auburn was probably the first time I really felt that Bammers are pretty delusional as a group. There is almost no such thing as a team pushing Bama. Teams only play well or keep it close if Bama has an off day.

#3 is Finebaum. He's just a sideshow, but his callers are top flight, lipstick wearing, keep-a-list-of people-you-want-to-kill psychos.

Truth is though, I have several freinds who are Bammers, and they are class acts. The Bear's family are good people. The Love's are good people. I was even the speaker at something in Tuscaloosa tonight, and the students were kind and very complimentary. Not all are bad (just as not all fan of any fan base are one way or another...) Honest truth is that I know UT fan are not much better than Bammers, but having lived in both places, I would rate Bammers as only above UK Hoops fans in terms of being tolerable. Sorry.

The gap appeared to be much bigger between the two teams last year and Bama played with Florida for much of the game. I think it will be a closer game. Florida may blow Alabama out, but I wouldn't bet on it.

NZAA? i've never heard an alabama fan use that term, certainly no alabama fans on this board.

I don't know if this is sarcasm, but:

difference is the NZAA's is always looking to punish Bama at any chance

Nice going, Dunlap. Great way to hurt your draft stock, too.

ESPN.com"]Florida Gators starting defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested for DUI early Tuesday morning in Gainesville, according to Gainesville police department spokesman Lt. Keith Kameg.

Dunlap, a junior from North Charleston, S.C., was arrested at 3:25 a.m. near campus and was booked into the jail at 5:52 a.m., according to police. Kameg said officers responded to a reckless driving complaint and found Dunlap's 2000 Chrysler stopped at a traffic light near the 200 block of W. 34th Street.

Kameg said officers found Dunlap's car stopped at a green light.

"They approached the car and found the suspect slumped over in the driver's seat," Kameg said. "He appeared to be asleep. The car's windows were cracked so they attempted to wake him up. They talked to him and he would only open his eyes for a few seconds and then fall back asleep."

Kameg said officers were able to unlock the car and turn off the ignition. Kameg said officers reported that Dunlap "had trouble listening to instructions." He was given a field sobriety test and performed "poorly," according to Kameg. He refused to take a Breathalyzer at the scene, Kameg said.

There is one person.

You and that one person might be the only ones on this board pulling for BAMA. Or at least if you were smart you'd pull for them in your situation.

I am pulling for them which is probably why I have felt sick to my stomach this week. I guess you could say I am pulling for them as little as I possibly can and I still think Florida wins by 2 td's. If Tebow breaks his leg during the game I will then switch over and pull for Florida.

Weird. Apparently the Outback Bowl has decided to pass over Tennessee and take Auburn:

al.com"]Auburn appears to be in the mix for an invitation to the Jan. 1 Outback Bowl in Tampa.

The participants are expected to be announced this afternoon, said bowl communications director Mike Shulze.

Several reports have surfaced in Tennessee that the Volunteers have been bypassed for the Outback Bowl, and Auburn is the next choice.

volunteerTV.com"]KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- According to a source close to the university The Outback Bowl will not select Tennessee as its SEC team for this year's game in Tampa, FL on New Years Day.

The same source says that Auburn will be selected for the Outback Bowl and Ole Miss will be the choice for the Cotton Bowl.

Officials with the Outback Bowl are expected to make an official announcement later Tuesday.

And if they did that in the SEC, will they do the same with NU in the Big Ten?
