That's pretty pathetic. Must be paying out too much money in referee bribes.

I was going to be offended with what you said, but then I realize you were talking tongue-in-cheek. :D

Most people I know wouldn't be saying that tongue in cheek.

I understand what it looks like, but let's face facts unless people have proof that referees are being bribe (monetary or whatever) then you have to take it with a grain of salt, otherwise you running the risk of facing a slander/libel charge.

What else would you call claiming referees are being bribed without proof?

A Bama fan is the ONLY fan in the entire conference that would ever in a million years actually defend SEC officials.

TUSCALOOSA, AL—A Southeastern Conference replay official conducting a video review of a sideline catch during the Alabama-Tennessee game Saturday overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court ruling granting women the right to abortions.

Confirming the conference stood by the decision, an SEC spokesperson also said that officials would be disciplined for last week's Florida–Mississippi State game, in which a "grave error" was made when a replay call upheld both a Florida touchdown in which the ballcarrier had clearly fumbled before crossing the goal line and Brown v. Board of Education.

While you two are bickering over redflash's mastery of the written word, I'll just throw this out there. Last Saturday's replay official, Gerald Hodges, lives (of all places) in Knoxville, TN. Both his step daughters are grads of Tennessee and are good friends of mine. I hardly know Gerald, though I know his family well. I do know him well enough to know that he was not "on the take" and that he is not a Bammer.

Despite appearances to the contrary, I think it was an honest mistake. Based on what you could see on standard definition (and I'll admit to not watching that game in HD) it would have been very, very tough to overturn the call. That was a play that replay could not overturn either way, in my opinion.

And keep in mind... I HATE Alabama. There is no other team on earth that I hate as much as the Repeat Serial Violators. If college football were an olympic sport, and Bama represented the US, I would cheer for every other country in the world. True Story.

oh no! please don't tell him that I was committing libel against him on NSBB! I really don't want to get sued. I don't think I could afford to defend against another defamation suit filed against me by someone I've insulted on the message board.

Denard Robinson will get the start for Michigan this weekend instead of Forcier. Looks like we're going to lose by 30 instead of 14.

Forcier has been nursing a sore shoulder since the ND game. Nothing official though, and I'm sure Forcier plays as well.

Well, Saturday's game against Ole Miss just got much more difficult.

3 Tennessee freshmen were arrested late last night after robbing 3 other students suing an airsoft gun. Nukeese Richardson, Mike Edwards, and (damnit, just damnit) Janzen Jackson were all arrested and will be charged with a Class C felony, and if convicted could face 3-6 years in prison.

Jackson, in particular, had a golden ticket. Surefire first round NFL pick, and has 3 drug/alcohol related incidents in his first semester. One that will end just about any hope he ever had of playing in the league.

Stupid, stupid kids.

UPDATE: Jackson may have al charges against him dropped, as it's being reported that he not only did not attempt to rob anyone, that he may have been unaware of what was happening, because he was in the convenience store at the time it happened, and he stopped it when he exited. Silver lining.

I was watching the Texas NC video last night and remembernig how great Ramonce Taylor was in 2005. Pretty much the same thing, could have been 1st round pick. He was pretty much Percy Harvin before Percy Harvin. 5 lbs of weed later, several other charges, and getting kicked off the team he is now in Af2 and the CFL.

so how does that make the game more difficult? were they starters? did they play?

Edwards did not play, but Janzen Jackson was a guaranteed Freshman All American. If you don't keep up with Tennessee, you might find this hard to believe, but he'd have made losing Berry not hurt much at all, though he was more head-hunter than ballhawk. Kid was an absolute future 1st rounder, and was a starter. If you remember the UT/FLorida game, Jackson nearly killed Brandon Jacobs in the end zone on a pass play, and his big hit caused the first fumble in the South Carolina game.

Nuke was a highly regarded prospect who has been nothing but trouble since he stepped on campus.

What really sucks about this is that both Nuke and Jackson switched their commitments on NSD and signed with Tennessee. Jackson (a 5* from Louisiana) was committed to LSU and switched to Tennessee, while Nuke was committed to Florida and signed with UT instead. They were HUGE recruiting wins against in-state powers.

This just blows, but god riddance to all 3. No room in this program for punks like this.

LOL, Ole Miss is such a joke this year.

Probable first round pick Greg Hardy out for season with a broken wrist.

Ouch. I wonder how badly that hurts his draft stock.

So he's had 3 alcohol/drug incidents in a little over 2 months and he was still playing this week?

Yeah, that should've read 2- not 3, and this would have been the 2nd. All 3 have been released and the victims are saying that they don't want any charges pressed, and that all 3 should be allowed to stay on the team. I disagree with that. At the very least, I hope Nuke hits the bricks. Kid is nothing but a punk, and his talent is not worth the headache. Head back to Pahokee, kid.

I bet it took him out of the first round, easily. It sucks. Doesn't matter if you are a two time All-American, if you can't stay on the field, then the cost/benefit certainly works against you. He only played in 10 games in 2007, 9 games in 08, and just 8 this year.

Mountain West to Expand to 12, receive auto BCS bid?

The latest rumor coming out of Washington DC is that the MWC has invited Boise State, Fresno State, and Nevada to join the nine team MWC.

I will reiterate: it's just a rumor. But given the growing number of rumblings, and the pragmatism surrounding this concept, it seems to have legs. At least at face value.

The only reason the MWC would ever expand is if they were somehow guaranteed an automatic seat at the BCS table.

So if there is any truth to this rumor, it is fair to assume that there is some degree of cooperation from the BCS.

At a cursory glance, this makes perfect sense. A beefed up MWC with four football powerhouses (all of whom have reached a top five ranking within the last 12 months), a 3-0 BCS Bowl record and now a conference championship game, would more than qualify the MWC 12 as a legit BCS conference.

So the practicality of it alone lends credence to the idea. Plus, a careful evaluation of the players involved might imply something may be in the works.

Posted
That would be a solid conference. What would they do with the WAC though? They'd be down to 6 teams.

Steal from the CUSA West if you can. Of course I wouldn't leave CUSA for the bottom 2/3rds of the WAC, so...North Texas? Montana? Not a whole lot of options for football.
