Redick with arguably the best game of his pro career with 27 points. Nelson with 30. This team seems to have even more depth than last year's team. We're dominating without Lewis, and in the case of today's game, without Lewis or VC.

Nice to see.

Yeah, the Magic are going to be very tough. It's just really tough to beat a team with such a power in the middle and great shooters outside.

Sidenote:

What are your feelings on all the money that was shelled out to Gortat?

Didn't feel it was necessary, but I'm sure Otis has a good reason for keeping him around. I feel pretty comfortable when Gortat is on the floor.

I thought Aaron Brooks had a shot at averaging 20 points a game this year since he was going to be given free reign. I however am in shock at how well he has been doing. Had another 19 and 9 game tonight. He is now averaging 21 and 8.5 while shooting 50%. I have watched 3 of the 4 games and he isn't just running around and essentially be a ball hog. He is moving around without the ball and doing a great job at driving or dishing. He's not forcing much.

The Rockets are now 3-1 with two wins on the road and two wins against playoff teams from last year. Looking like we will be able to make the playoffs which is just ridiculous considering we have $39 mil and our two corner stones sitting out hurt.

Looks like the Grizzlies/Iverson honeymoon is over before it began.

When asked how his leg felt after logging 18 minutes, Iverson responded with a favorable medical assessment before opening up about his role.

“I had no problems (with the hamstring). I had a problem with my butt sitting on that bench for so long,” Iverson said.

When a reporter suggested that the Grizzlies’ youthful and offensively challenged bench desperately needs Iverson’s scoring punch, the 34-year-old shook his head in disagreement.

“No. I’m not a bench player. I’m not a sixth man,” Iverson said. “Look at my resume and that’ll show I’m not a sixth man. I don’t think it has anything to do with me being selfish. It’s just who I am. I don’t want to change what gave me all the success that I’ve had since I’ve been in this league. I’m not a sixth man. And that’s that.”

Bill Walton isn't going to return to broadcasting: http://sportsmediawatch.blogspot.com/2009/11/bill-walton-retires-from-broadcasting.html

I'm honestly pretty bummed out about this. Walton is my favorite color man of all time.

Bill Walton sucks, I'm glad hes done broadcasting. He's damn near impossible to listen to for a full game.

watching bill walton call a game where shaq is playing is like listening to john madden call a brett favre game.

It's going to take a lot more than four games for me to believe the Rockets are going to make the playoffs in the west.

Especially since Utah is pretty terrible. They don't rebound at all. Watching that game lastnight, I couldn't help but think how Boozer messed up by not going free agent last year. All these teams will now get to see how washed up he is. Probably cost himself a ton of money.

That's why I said looking like. They have showed they have the talent to make the playoffs. That wasn't a sure thing coming in. I wasn't convinced a team led by Brooks, Battier and Ariza had enough talent to compete with the West. They beat Portland at home, Utah on the road (still a good home team), Golden State on the road and hung with Portland on the road. That shows they will be able to compete and are a playoff caliber team. Whether that translates to actually making the playoffs remains to be seen.

If Jennings continues to look this good, how much will it influence HS players in terms of going to Europe instead of college?

That's what I've been thinking. If the consensus is Europe prepared him more for the NBA a lot of the top players may decide to do it.

honestly i hope that's what does happen. making guys like oden, mayo and jennings go to college for a year when they don't have any interest in getting an education is a farce, and can easily result in major violations of ncaa rules. hopefully those guys will follow the jennings path and guys who go to play college ball actually have some interest in school or at the very least playing ball for whatever college they chose.

I think the fact that Jennings was miserable (personally) in Europe will detract people a lot more.

19 years old, a couple of million, in Europe for 1 year. How do you become miserable?

You're away from everyone you know, have a grueling schedule you're not used to, and get [expletive] upon by teammates and coaches who think you need to be put in your place.
