I don't think adding Wade alone makes us a champion. It would need to be Wade plus something, IMO.

I think so as well but, could that be another max FA? Wade and Bosh for example?

Wade isn't going anywhere. Neither is LeBron. The Bulls best bet is Bosh and Joe Johnson, and that has a slim chance of happening. I doubt any team is getting two max contract players. The problem for the Bulls is that there are too many teams that can give max contracts and not enough great players. Joe Johnson does not have the skills to be a max contract player, but all you need to really be one is a team that is willing to offer him that. NY is going to offer him that after they fail to get LeBron.

Why are some people suddenly so sure that neither Wade or LeBron are going anywhere?

you're talking to a guy who also thought there was a good chance the bulls planned on getting tmac so they could extend him

once again we fail to unload hinrich

meanwhile the knicks open enough space for 2 max free agents

The Bulls are still a better spot then NY, imo.

the knicks can now afford 2 max free agents, the bulls can only afford 1

Yeah, but they have the chicken and the egg paradox. For example: to land LBJ they have to land another max FA, but that said player won't sign with the Knicks unless they know LBJ has signed. So you have a vicious cycle going. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if the Knicks pull a Bull of 2000 and strike out on the major FA. Now I don't expect them to, as I think they'll end up with one of Amar'e/Boozer and someone like Joe Johnson.

It's times like this I really wish Isiah was still around just to see what he would do if he struck out on all the 2010 free agents

I wanted to post a possibility of some horrible ballhog no defense guard, but realized they all already played for Isiah's Knicks

We already have a "max fa" in Rose so we don't need 2. In fact, Rose, Noah and Deng are better than any incumbent players on the Knicks roster (assuming David Lee is gone). So even if the Knicks lets say get Bosh and then try to sign Wade, we can counter by having Rose Noah and Deng. I'm not saying the latter two are all stars, but they both look to be very good rotation pieces on a contending team.

These players can talk to each other. If these stars want to play with one another, they'll be able to plan which team to join before signing a contract. In short, this makes no sense.

Yeah, If LeBron opts to sign with a different team that has more money to spend, you know he's gonna be calling up other FA's he wants to sign there, too.

The Bulls need Rose on the [expletive] phones.

i wasnt talking about who has the best situation team-wise. i was just saying that now that NY can afford 2 max free agents, that's even more competetion for a superstar this offseason.

Yeah, maybe Knicks can certainly afford 2 max FA's, but why would any FA really think they could win a championship with the Knicks. Even if they score LeBron and another max FA, that's 2 superstars on a team of crap (without Lee, who they probably wouldn't be able to re-sign). Not a championship team. Plus, the lose their 1st rounder in 2011, and possibly swap with the Rockets in 2012 and burn up a lot of cap space making it difficult to build.

The Knicks are taking a big gamble here. If they can't get 2 max FA's, they are really going to have a crappy team.

So does thinking NY has a leg up on the Bulls for free agency. NY has room for two max players and a roster full a D-League caliber players. If you think that won't cause max players to pause then you definately are naive. And if they don't land LBJ (right now, they have less the 5% chance of landing LBJ) I doubt they'll land Dwayne Wade. Which means NY's only hope to land LBJ is if the Cavs goes quietly and quickly in the playoffs. But this kind of talk is moot right now, since we are about 3 months away from anything happening.

lebron is basically single handedly carryng the cavs to the best record in the nba

if the knicks get lebron and one of wade/bosh/amare, then yeah. they absolutely are a title contender

you have absolutely no idea if that's true or not

I didn't mean to stat as fact, but call it reasonable deduction. Cleveland in the ECF/NBA Finals > playing at MSG.

it's true. redflash doesn't see the appeal of new york, so there's no way lebron goes there.

seriously, though, don't the 07-08 celtics kind of provide a model for free agents thinking about new york? that team went from pretty damn bad to a championship winner with the addition of two superstars. they had what was thought to be a thin supporting cast going into the season. granted, they had pierce in place before they traded for allen and garnett, but they pretty much showed how quickly a couple stars can turn a bad team around. i don't doubt that lebron believes that he and a fellow superstar can perform a similar feat and go to new york and turn their franchise around.

a) lebron+another good free agent pick up in new york would probably mean they are suddenly in the ecf

b) living in NY >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> living in cleveland

not to mention lebron has already shown that he by himself can take a bunch of nobodies and turn them into an elite team

No, no, no we are not having this ridiculous conversation again. With the amount of money Lebron is making, he can have house is every friggin' state if he wants to. So living in NY (no matter how great NY is  ) does not equate to LBJ leaving Cleveland for NY, at least professional. LBJ will stay in Cleveland and nothing will change with his marketing.

Obviously living in New York is much, much better than Cleveland. And, LeBron doesn't exactly shy away from the glitz and glamor of the NBA life as much as say, a Joe Johnson would seem to. But, at the same time, I think he's pretty comfortable in Cleveland. He is literally a king in Akron. I think it's a pretty clear two horse race for LeBron between New York and Cleveland, with Miami maybe having a glimmer of hope.

Obviously, no one really knows. There have been a million small snippets that could be interpreted in a thousand different ways. My gut tells me that LeBron stays in Cleveland. But, obviously I have a pretty clear bias.

just not sure why you keep trying to keep passing your (realitvely uninformed) opinion off as a fast.

you have no idea where lebron is going. none of us do.

and yes, lebron will be bigger in NY.

Mike, as much as I have no love for Cleveland, I have less love for New York. It's bad enough that "The Raptist" headlines LA, we don't need LBJ headlining NY. I rather LBJ stay in Cleveland and the Bulls have to face him 4 times a year, instead of him going to NY.

you need to recognize the difference between "i hate new york" and "everyone in the world hates new york"

This is just ridiculous. The less we have to face LeBron, the better.
