Estes had a 5.73 ERA in 2003, that's worse than Tapani's 5.01.

Estes only had 152 IP and thus didn't qualify for the 162 minimum that is necessary for an ERA title, which is what I used for best and worst with regard to ERA's.

FWIW, the biggest loser at a minimum of 25 IP goes to Steve Smyth in 2002 with a 9.35. Minimum of 50 it goes to Ruben Quevedo in 2000 with 7.47, and at 100 it goes to the aforementioned Mr. Estes, of whom it should also be mentioned has the worst WHIP of any starting pitcher throughout all of baseball over the entire decade.

But ... but .... but he threw a shutout on 09/24 in 2003.

that one game probably kept him from having the worst WHIP in the past 30 years. :-)

Amazing that the Cub hits leader (Ramirez) has less than 1/2 the hits of the MLB hits leader (Ichiro). Even if Ramirez had played on the Cubs in 01 and 02, he still wouldn't be close

and Ichiro didn't even play in 2000

I know, it's sick.

I assume that all of your Cubs numbers were accumulated just on the Cubs, right?

Yes, looking back on the "steroids era", some of those stats are just ludicrous.

Look at the awards voting for the year 2000. There was a guy in the NL with .314/.391/.636 and 44 HR, 122 RBI that came in 20th! In the AL that same year a guy with .333/.407/.523 and 29 HR, 144 RBI came in 11th.

Indeed. I just looked at the 2000 MVP vote and if any of those guys had those same numbers in 2009, there would be no question about receiving the MVP.

For someone who is injured practically every year I'm surprised Ramirez has all those games played achievements... then again, he's the only player who has been in the starting lineup since 2003... How far back was Lee, I assume his wrist injury really set him back a ways, otherwise I would imagine he'd lead in all those categories perhaps?

how long did this take to put together? jesus christ

anyway, good work, this is the kind of thing i would start and then stop after 15 minutes and play xbox

I took an adderall at like 4pm for whatever reason and so I got really intense on it. This and the MLB one probably took 2 hours total.

Those numbers are just absurd that those guys were putting up.

Pitches: Zambrano - 25626

Strikes: Zambrano - 15656

The similarity in these numbers is pretty awesome.

MLB.com has his number of pitches at 25684.

well baseball-reference tells mlb.com to go to hell.

I don't see total pitches thrown in baseball-reference.
