Are there any BC fans on nsbb? I just want to know how personally I can insult the team and fans without violating any rules.

Are they really worth insulting? BC is a nonentity. Though their punk fan base would never accept that.

I attended the BC game in 2004 that we lost by one and their fans were intolerable leaving the stadium.

punk fan base? they hardly have any fans. people in new england barely care about football. they were probably "intolerable" because they were drunk (people in boston are good at this) and you were bitter about your team losing.

It's good that you clarify they lost that game by one since it's so hard to differentiate between all the losses without such details.

I attended the game in 1993 when all the ND student section cried like a bunch of little girls and it was glorious. I believe that was a 2 point margin.

Alabama seems one dimensional to me. McElroy played lights out in the games against crappy defenses, but in the three games he played against good to great defenses he was largely useless. He failed to complete over 50% of his passes against Virginia Tech, South Carolina and Ole Miss. He threw one TD pass and three picks in those games. I'm expecting Tennessee to stack the box and make McElroy beat him. They did that to Florida and Tebow managed to eek out enough runs to win. Tebow wasn't very effective passing in the game and he's a lot better passer than McElroy. I think Tennessee matches up well in this game. I don't think they'll do anything on offense to win though. My guess is Alabama 13-6, or 17-6. Something like that. If Berry can get a pick 6, they might be able to pull of the win.

Another thing to consider is that the Vols have two weeks to prepare. Crompton's played a lot better outside of Florida and UCLA. Granted much like McElroy all of his success has came against weak defenses.

If Alabama is one dimensional (and that isn't even close, btw, Bama has 6 guys with over 130 yards and a TD, Bama has and forever will be a running team first) it is because McElroy seems to be forcing it abit. If McElroy goes back to spreading the field like he did earlier, Bama's offense will be fine.

If Tenneess needs a big defensive play to win the game, then they are in trouble. Besides, Bama will stay away from Berry. I so expect Eric Berry to be a complete no factor in the game. Tennessee will keep the game competitive, and the game will be close, but ultimately Alabama's superior talent and depth (not to mention the superior coaching Bama has over Tennessee, excluding Monte Kiffin) will prevail like it has in every game this yr. I say Bama win the game something like 24-7.

Alabama is one dimensional because Greg McElroy is god awful.

Among. And BC fans are your typical Northeast private schoolers.

Aren't you a midwest kid that lives in jersey now? And you're a BC fan? Or just an ND hater?

Good memory, buddy. By the way, that win cost ND the national championship. If BC knew anything about being in the title picture in November I'd expect them to cry upon being removed from it too.

I don't think I even know anybody that went to BC, except that sunovabich Matt Ryan. I just remember that I went to that game with a ginger kid who grew up on the Irish and pretty much ever since he's always hated them. I'd describe my ND hate as quite mild and due more to a dad who didn't like them than anything else. But it's still fun to mess with Irish fans. I know this complete drunk Pennsylvania kid with no parental/alumni ties to the place who goes absolutely nuts when they lose, and that's fun to watch.

1993 was my introduction into how stupid college football is. Wasn't there some committee after the season to determine who should've been #1 between FSU and ND? I was 7 years old then and knew that the system for determining a national champion was freaking dumb. Sadly, it's not gotten much better.

I believe that was the first time BC ever beat ND too.

I don't remember that. I do know that Bobby Bowden voted us 5th in the final coaches' poll to help his own team's chances, and I believe someone else voted us 24th for absolutely no reason other than to make sure we wouldn't finish #1.

And yes, that was the first time BC won in the series. They've been a pain in the ass ever since, hopefully the team is ready to crack some skulls on Saturday. I'm sick of the cardiac-arrest games and would love to see a whipping.

17-0 wasn't enough of a laugher for you?

I was more embarrassed by that than by USC last year.

Most definitely. Ingram is carrying that mediocre offense.

It's really not that easy to keep the ball away from Eric Berry. Most teams go into games with the idea of keeping the ball away from Berry and none have. Part of Monte's scheme this year has included moving Berry around the defense. That's part of why he hasn't had very many (if any) INTs this year - he's played up on the line quite often. He has had quite a significant number of tackles around the line and behind the line, though. He's been put into positions where he can make the most plays against a given offense.

And I agree that Bama will very likely win the game - with depth and talent as big reasons why - but I don't know that there's a clear coaching advantage at every spot but with Monte. There may be questions about Lane's ability, but coaches like Orgeron, Chaney, Thompson, etc. are proven excellent coaches as well. The two staffs are very comparable.

Five more days until this crap can stop.

ETA: Admittedly, those teams they've beaten were dog [expletive]. The only decent team in the six-game stretch was 2002, and that was the beginning of the season-ending swan dive. There'd likely be no such streak if they'd played ND in 2005 or 2006, but they didn't.

Well nothing will likely change for Ball State in five days.

No, probably not. Certainly not if our QB is out for the game - he hurt his hand in the 2nd quarter on Saturday and the backup is garbage.

Points Scored with Kelly Page in the game: 0

Points Scored with Tanner Justice in the game: 17

Sample size. We ran the ball better after Justice entered, which he had nothing to do with. Since when is there another MAC-o-phile on the board anyway?

I think Alabama wins a closer-than-expected game over the Vols. As dew has pointed out, Monte Kiffin will force McElroy to beat Tennessee, and I'm just not sure he's capable of doing that. If Alabama gets their stable of backs untracked and manages to sustain long drives, depth becomes a major factor and Tennessee wears out.

Should Tennessee's defense or special teams put points on the board, this game will be decided by 7 points or less, and I will not be surprised if the Vols win. Again, I expect Alabama's talent level to win this game, but gameplan will be a Tennessee advantage. I just don't think they have the horses to execute that gameplan well enough to win.
