the last two years i understood him falling apart in the playoffs, because his teams rode him really hard down the stretch and pitched him on short rest trying to make the playoffs. but the yankees have been pretty judicious with his pitch counts and there's really no reason that he'd be any more gassed than a front line starter on any other team. if he stinks this year it might just be an indication that he's a fatass who doesn't get himself in good enough shape to pitch well at the end of a long season.

There is a little part of me that doesn't care about the inscrupulous manner in which the Yankees were constructed, a part of me that just enjoys watching this baseball colossus crush a team like the Twins. I used to always cheer against the Yankees like everyone else but they haven't won in so long (relative to their past success) that I'm almost kinda hoping they'd advance.

 

Here is the order in which I'd like to see these teams win it all.

3. Angels

4. Yankees

5. Phillies

6. Red Sox

7. Dodgers

8. Cardinals

career-wise, sure, but his production with the Yankees has been terrible and it's just fed the "Jeter is a true Yankee, A-Rod is a bum" nonsense.

The biggest reason he was getting trashed by the media/fans was his RBI total in the 2005-6-7 playoffs: 1. Driving in runs will shut people up no matter how well or badly he does. And he is OPSing worse in this series than his career playoff average (by .002) but he'll still get praised for it. As always, people are idiots.
