2-0 Twins, CC is starting to implode in the postseason again.

These Yankees fans remind me a lot of the Cubs last year. Their fans are quiet and seem scared waiting for the bottom to fall out. Guess you don't need a 100 year drought to feel that way....

Chip Carey just called another can of corn a base hit before correcting himself.

It was a sinking line drive but it was really never in doubt that it was gonna be caught, and he said "base h-...I mean an out. That ball almost dropped in there" (it didnt)

the last two years i understood him falling apart in the playoffs, because his teams rode him really hard down the stretch and pitched him on short rest trying to make the playoffs. but the yankees have been pretty judicious with his pitch counts and there's really no reason that he'd be any more gassed than a front line starter on any other team. if he stinks this year it might just be an indication that he's a fatass who doesn't get himself in good enough shape to pitch well at the end of a long season.

for the sake of perspective, the left side of the yankees infield and the yankees starting pitcher are making about $4 million more than the twins entire roster (and that's not even considering that sabathia's contract goes up by $9M per year after this season).

[expletive] the Yankees. Remember a couple years ago when Liriano was awesome? Yeah, not so much anymore.

That is what happens when you don't throw 97 anymore with his terrible control

There is a little part of me that doesn't care about the inscrupulous manner in which the Yankees were constructed, a part of me that just enjoys watching this baseball colossus crush a team like the Twins. I think this desire arises from the same reptilian component of the brain that drives pre-adolescent boys to shoot cats with pellet guns.

I used to always cheer against the Yankees like everyone else but they haven't won in so long (relative to their past success) that I'm almost kinda hoping they'd advance.

Here is the order in which I'd like to see these teams win it all.

1. Twins

2. Rockies

3. Angels

4. Yankees

5. Phillies

6. Red Sox

7. Dodgers

8. Cardinals

I'm just cheering for A-Rod in every at-bat. If he's successful and that happens to win the series for the Yankees, so be it

I'm with you on that. I sometimes wonder if A-Rod is like the "guy who is a total jerk because he needs to get laid", to make a crude analogy. Maybe if he performs well and wins a series, he'll loosen up a little bit...

And yeah, I realize I'm performing the same kind of armchair psychoanalysis I so detest in sports journalism.

arod has a .279/.373/.483/.856 line in the postseason. I'd hardly call that "bad". His OPS is actually better than Jeter's: he's .309/.377/.469/.845

career-wise, sure, but his production with the Yankees has been terrible and it's just fed the "Jeter is a true Yankee, A-Rod is a bum" nonsense.

The biggest reason he was getting trashed by the media/fans was his RBI total in the 2005-6-7 playoffs: 1. Driving in runs will shut people up no matter how well or badly he does. And he is OPSing worse in this series than his career playoff average (by .002) but he'll still get praised for it. As always, people are idiots.
