That's probably the worst call I've seen this season, or at least pretty damn close to it.

The cub thrown (theriot?) out at second was the worst call I've ever seen. This wasn't that close (although still top-10 worthy)

 

I can see how umps have bad angles and sometimes have to look at multiple things at the same time (glove, base, runner's hand, etc.), but seriously, the ump is paid to make that call and all he had to do was locate the ball and where it bounced. I don't know how the hell you screw that up.

But calling a guy out 10 feet away from the bag when he was on the base at the same time the ball was being thrown is worse

Yea absolutely no excuse to miss that call. He honestly should be pulled from this series for missing that call. At least Twins still scored. Had that call went against the Yankees or Twins, we probably would have a rule change regarding replay.

At least 2 umpires a year should be replaced either through retirement or firings. There are 67 of them, so that's a generous 33 year mean. The actual number is 1, all through retirements.
