I've heard from ND friends that (idiot) Irish fans don't regard Kelly as enough of a name to warrant hiring. According to them it's a stratospheric hire like Shanahan or Stoops or nothing at all. I felt annoyed for my reasonable Domer friends.

Oh, I'd love a guy like Stoops. But Stoops ain't leaving OU, ever. Kelly's Catholic, a family guy, and pretty clearly a very good football coach. He'd be perfect.

There are more than a few OU fans who would probably be happy with Stoops going somewhere else.

For the record I'm perfectly happy with Stoops.

Why would any OU fan want to fire Bob Stoops? It's ludicrous. Five top five finishes in ten years is good enough for any program. Not to mention three other top 11 finishes. He's had some slip ups in big games the last three or four years, but he's still as good as there is in the country.

Because some OU fans think the team should basically never lose, ever.

Brian Kelly seems to have everything you'd want. Youth, head coaching experience (D2 titles and BCS conference championships), innovative schemes, etc. I think he's definitely the top current college head coach looking to move to mega program. Chris Peterson is up there as well.

I desperately want Brian Kelly if Weis is done after this year.

Kelly and Mike Leach were at the top of my interest list in the offseason for the Tennessee job. I really like Kelly.

I never understood why people criticize OSU and Oklahoma or any school like that for not winning the big game. A: it's not easy to get to that point. You have to be a really, really good team to get to that point and B: It's incredibly hard to beat the number one team in the country multiple seasons.

This isn't the Eisenhower Era.

As a Texas fan I would be perfectly happy with Stoops leaving :-).

Does anyone else get the impression there is a lot more going on with Bradford than we are being told? If you look at espn.com it says Bradford hoping to get cleared to play this week. ESPN bottom line says that Bradford says that he might still have to have surgery on his shoulder. I work with a lot of OU, OSU, and UT alums and they still state they have heard the insurance company is telling him not to play, and that he will have to have surgery at some point.

Any coach in any sport (that people care about at least) is going to face criticism for how they coach in losses. I think it's fair. Calling for their heads for those reasons are a different matter entirely.

There's no reason to cover something up. It's not going to change his draft status. Any lies will be uncovered when NFL scouts look at medical records.

There was until last week when OU still had a chance to run the table. Now there isn't which is why I don't understand why he would try to play this weekend when he could still need surgery. If the surgery was this minor he should have had it a month ago to begin with.

Expectations are a little out of control at some of these schools. There seems to be an even stronger movement to fire Pete Carroll, Mark Richt, Les Miles, etc. Ok, so Les Miles is actually terrible (in-game at least), but everybody thinks their school should be better than it is. I get that, but be realistic about it and stop trying to fire guys like Bob Stoops and Carroll, who's only gone 92-16 (including a 6-6 first year) with a BCS bowl victory every year since 2002 (Vince Young games excluded).

It's called perspective. Oklahoma fans, especially those who became fans this decade, have lost perspective. When OU loses, the fans always want the DC's or OC's (or both) heads. Most of them didn't see the brand of football that was played before Stoops came to OU. They didn't see 4 different QBs on a single drive. They didn't see the offensive philosophy change between drives. They didn't see OU get flagged for 14 men on the field once. Basically, they didn't see the sad hilarity that is .250 football. Stoops' NC in 2000 spoiled them.

Currently, a lot of people are calling for Kevin Wilson's head. (Yes, he was a former assistant at Northwestern.) Just last season his offense averaged 50+ pts/game. There's only 1 player currently healthy and playing for OU that was on that offense last season. Now, in the Miami game, he was calling a lot of delay draw plays on a lot of 3rd and long situations. I didn't understand it. But firing the guy who just came off that kind of season is ludicrous.

yeah but 50 pts/g in the big xii is like 4 points a game in the sec, or something like that.

Yeah, because Oklahoma's crappy Big XII defense didn't hold Florida to its lowest point total of the season or anything like that.

I'm not convinced the Auburn D will be able to stop Arkansas, but I am convinced that Auburn will be able to put up 25+ points. I think Auburn wins a close one.

I don't know about that. Auburn's defense is as bad as their offense is good. (Not to mention Auburn's special teams is by far the wrost in the SEC) Ryan Mallet and Bobby Petrino must be salivating at the thought of carving up Auburn's "defense." The game can go either way, but I think the superior talent on offense by Arkansas gives them the advantage, not to mention HFA. I think Arkansas is going to hang at least 45 on Auburn. I can see Auburn winning the game, but ultimately I think Arkansas wins the game.
